Raising a family (especially when young kids need constant attention) in US is a joint effort from both stakeholders. You are a SAHM, so you have to do everything because your husband works outside is not set in stone. That is a rule you(and your husband) are following currently. You may have signed up for this initially but now if you are not comfortable doing it all by yourself, you should discuss with your husband and delegate some of every day chores like cleaning, laundry, putting dishes/taking out in/from dishwasher, vegetable cutting etc to him.

We both work long hours outside home every week but there is no work that is designated for just one person day-in/day-out. Some days in a month I cook , so she can tidy up the house and spend time with babies and other days we reverse the role. We share this in every chore. This switching also helps us in understanding how monotony can affect people's enthusiasm to same old same old household work.

Don't feel guilty in spending time in IL or BB. Atleast you don't come in multiple IDs unlike some here :tonguewink:. So don't change and keep up with your sunny nature except in offloading some work to your husband

    Thank you.

yeah..my hubby leaves at 6.30 or 7 am and comes back only after 10 and sometimes even later. The commute to his office is also one hour and more everyday.

so unfortunately am not able to seek help.

So housework, kid activities, grocery etc is my job.IL is my relief.

I can give up on gym and save time but that’s needed for my emotional health not just physical. It keeps me sane.

Yes...muscles feel sore after workout and then Doing the above.Half the time can’t explain but I try to give my best I feel.

would like to do things better and more organized.

If you don't mind me asking is your DH running his own company ?
What kind of job does he do ? He is working almost 14-15 hours on a daily basis.
You are carrying load of your husband too . The quality of work done by SAHM and working mom is totally different. Same with the care they provide for kids. Be kind to yourself.

I guess some are idiotic to do a runny mouth comment where they dont know the context but oh wait let me add the customary smiley :tongueclosed: to make my statement fine.

I think your DH working hours are too long , is it just a phase of heavy work load or is it always like this? I mean for his own sake it's not very healthy to be working and travelling 14-15 hrs a day.
If it's permanent I think may be he needs to do something like changing company or role. I don't know if it is workable just a suggestion. Moreover I think it's pretty draining for you, you are literally on your own whole day. It's almost like being single mother barring weekends.
And also if commute is taking longer have you thought of staying near by his workplace?

And I see usually in western countries people don't work like this. I am in UK most people leave office by 5-5:30 hardly anyone stays till 6. Nowhere I worked or my husband worked people stay beyond 6,office will be closed.

    Anika,
you need to jazz up your daily routine girl ! Having to cook multiple meals a day is too much , why not cook once every two days or three days? Laundry can easily be done once or twice a week.
Don’t make your life a sequence of never ending chores because you are a SAHM. Btw, besides excercising I am not sure you kept any time for hobbies . Pick up something creative .

I had same feeling but was not sure if he has his own business. Personally the schedule looks fine for me. If possible pick up some volunteer hours

People with own business usually have a home office setup as far as I have seen here, even if they work longer hours that won't be in office they will bring it to do at home. So this does seem not so normal to me. Again OP can tell what his work area is because only that will clear our doubts.

@anika987 , spread your positive and good manners to others too please :)
