Nah, we dont. But we have to get it done.

Can you recommend which one you’d choose between Front-Load washing machine and Top-Load washing machine (for clothes)? US models.

Do you like the HE (high eff) or top loader with the spindle agitator models?

These things cost some $$ so any recommendations or experiences, do share in terms of what brand/ model and type you like....

    I have reviewed Consumer Reports
but looking for some experiences that you may have had (good and bad)

Front loaders use less energy and water, and are gentler on your clothes. I've heard they don't 'clean' your clothes as well as the top-loading machines but you pay for it with the life of the garment. The common complaints with front loaders are smell and mold inside the bellows. Keeping the washer door closed doesn't allow the chamber to dry up post wash which causes the obvious problems: smell and sometimes mold. I've never had either problem. Simply leaving the door slightly ajar between washes takes care of both. As far as brands go, almost all appliances these days are designed for planned obsolescence. They have a 10-15 year life span. Maytag/Whirlpool/LG/Samsung are in the same ballpark when it comes to quality. You can whittle down the choices based on a preferred feature. I have heard good things about LG servicing and parts availability, which seems to be a major problem with Samsung appliances. My suggestion would be to pick something solidly midrange—not cheap but not one of the ultra-high tech with a superfluity of sensors and settings. If you have a Costco membership then buy it from them. They offer the best prices and an excellent return policy.

Thanks Gauri. Great write up
Yes, I was thinking about the smell and mildew/mold issue, but good to hear that you haven't had any issues with it.

Hoping to hear some more experiences from others.

I have an energy-efficient front loader too. I clean it properly every two months and try to ensure people doing the laundry keep it open for airing but they don't. I run a cleaning cycle with a cleaning tablet once a month. I clean out the door frame et al with a towel each time I do a load of laundry and throw that towel in to reduce mildew and mold. So far, so good. If you do the laundry yourself or your family is good about keeping the machine open after use, it's the best practice.

I got mine from best buy because of the service. I had an issue within a month of purchase and they replaced it with a brand new machine. I also got their five years extended warranty. I've used it for my other appliances and it was worth the extra money the machine cost. Each appliance had some issues after the first four years of use and best buy serviced it, parts et al with no issues. I've bought from Lowe's too but their service turn around time isn't as good as BB. I have got a couple of things from Costco but they have given me a run around for the service. I was told it is my local area service that's mixed up. Do check on service before buying and consider buying an extended warranty.

Thanks Laks. Looks like a bit more involved maintenance from the users of it, than compared to a top loader. That's a point to keep in mind.
Good point about the service. Will enquire. Was the extended warranty at a reasonable cost to purchase?

My memory :coldsweat::coldsweat:. I might have done BG research at home, gone in store, picked machine and told DH - I want this and want the five years warranty, taken son and let him play with the appliances on display while he does the rest. :grimacing::grimacing:

I have a front load samsung. Cleans great. Most of the stains are going from white clothes. I do wash whites and colors separately, always. Also we sanitize (Use the option in the machine) every 2 months. I do laundry weekly, and at the end when all clothes are done I leave the door wide open for a few hours to dry the washer. So far so good and I am very pleased with the machines. Touch wood!!!
