    I nominate this advisory post of @Rihana on how to behave so that I may get along well enough with one of my children's nuclear family, and have a peaceful life when I have to move in with them in my old age.

    My first nomination for the month is this post by @Amulet
    Turn Passion Into Profession

    I would like to applaud Amulet for managing to write about turning passion into profession without getting too ... how do I put it :thinking: .. without getting too carried away. :blush:

    I just posted about your advisory on how I should not behave in my old age, and you tell me I had grown old enough already.
    Touché !! :kissingheart:

    My second nomination is this post by @Myliltwincesses: Leave Her Alone - Part One

    @Myliltwincesses has done very well in describing a problem that many new mothers face. Unwelcome comments about the baby's gender, and judging the mother for her feeding choices -- be it breastfeeding or formula -- seems like people have to judge whatever the new mother chooses. The post by Myliltwincesses gently requests people to trust the new mother's judgement, leave her alone and try to offer suggestions when asked only.

    @Amulet
    Thank you for your nomination of the post No.19 by @Rihana in the thread Nuclear Family Back To Late-start Joint-family
    This reminded me of Kevin in the movie Home Alone. Of course Kevin is an 8 year old child but an elderly parent could be a lot older than Kevin. But when left alone in the house in a strange set up, age hardly matters. That's my personal experience :anguished:
    A very valid and timely advice. This reminds me of a story. The only son of an Orthodox family declares that he is in love with another boy and wants to marry him. The parents gently break the news to the grandmother. The old lady responds by saying 'Hope he is of the same caste as ours'!
    Loved Rihana's response seriatim

    You...left alone in the house ? I thought you have your gecko on a nicely white-washed wall.

    Every retired person living with their child need two things:
    • A personal room of one's own (this is from Virginia Woolf) that has clean, white-washed walls, and a few geckos that come by on the walls and be curious at various angles....and
    • a reasonably wide-enough band (even if it isn't a broad-band) access to the outside world via the internet.
    Thank you for recognizing the clever writings of Rihana.

    @Rihana
    Thank you for your nomination of @Amulet 's response to the thread Turn Passion Into Profession
    PAYIR is a very inspiring story. Senthil Kumar Gopalan is now a legend where he serves. He is married to Preethi, a homoeopathic doctor rendering free service to the community.
    Thank you Amulet for your story of Gopalan. He is indeed one in a million. This is an unbelievable story in a highly materialistic world.

    I would like to second @Amulet's nomination. I loved that @Rihana has been a keen observer of the families around her and been able to and willing to compile it all into an extensive list and share it with all of us.

    My first nomination for this month is this post by Anika.

    Unruly Teenager To A Responsible Mommy:)

    We all have been through this stage where we have hated our parents . Especially teenage being a worst phase for us as well as our parents dealing our tantrums.

    Hats off to our parents to have dealt such a situation with much better experience and calm composure. I'm sure their teenage years and their tantrums with their parents would have thought them to be good and handle the situation well.
    No matter how nicely they handle the situation they never fail to curse with a standard dialogue " you will realize when you become a parent". :lol::lol:
    And when we do become one the curse turns into golden words of wisdom.

    Anika has penned down that part very well in her narration.

    A positive thread from Anika makes me want to nominate her post for this month.
