I have posted somewhere on this forum that somewhat dysfunctional family life during childhood could help the child succeed in later life.

However, when a family struggled, and crawled their way up from middle class, it is very hard for them to refuse their children what they had lacked when they were children. This is how every other generation gets spoiled rotten, and manage to lose the inheritance in frivolous pursuits. And then their children get the benefits of a tough life, and the need to adjust to whatever circumstance that helps their survival.

Be careful in tossing wild adjectives !
Nothing vicious about it. You may call it "routine"... like biorhythm. One generation up, the next one down.
Although India's tax authorities do not charge an estate tax on inheritances, nature (& nurture, such as what @iyerviji had pointed out) go on to extract the due from the beneficiaries.
