So annoyed as to abbreviate the long post about long names to just a hyphen ? Your father is right about the appropriateness. Quite often there are a lot of baby name suggestions from grandparents, grandaunts, grand uncles, and others in the grandclan. And the poor parents decide who not-to-offend and stack all those name-suggestions into some tolerable format. And the baby ends up in America with not enough spaces to write her name on optical character recognition forms. The family usually has a short name, just one or two syllables they use to call the baby. I remembered my old post to Ouroboros:
Lol there was nothing in tat post which could reveal my identity. I realised tat this topic was funny and hence deleted it
All I said was my name is really long which includes my name, family name and father’s name. The moment someone asks me my full name it’s so difficult for me to spell the whole name as it’s too long. Especially here in US I feel they find it weird I keep questioning my dad tat why did I get such a big name
If you are frustrated with S for salt, H for henry, R for robert, A for apple, V for victory, S for salt --- kind of repetition on the phone, and doing it for a name that is 10 times as long, go ahead and investigate how much it would cost to have it changed at your federal district court. Between you and your family, you can come up with a nice name, and go with that. You'd have to change your passport, driving license etc.. and the cost would mount up to a considerable sum. However, if you are planning to stay put in the west, it is worth the hassle and the cost.
