    Hi all,
I have few bulgy varicose veins in my right leg. Near the calf area and behind the knees. It's been there for a couple of years now and it's gradually increasing. I asked my PCP once and she told me to wear compression stockings for that. I am wearing the thigh high stockings now. But I do feel some pain and heaviness in the leg at the end of the day. I do elevate my legs as much as possible.
I would like to know if anyone knows any remedies for this?
I am also planning to treat them. Before that, I would like to try some remedies if that works. I am not sure about the treatment though. Have to do research on that.
    Thank you.

Try this home remedy - Mix 1 tbsp henna leaf paste with 1 tsp lemon juice and apply over the vericose veins and wait till it air dries.Wash with water.Repeat everyday. This will strengthen the valve in the veins.

Did anyone did the treatment here in USA? I see online that there are many treatment options available in the US compared to India.
But I am yet to see a doctor here. Anyone have any experience here?

It could be genetic or due to child birth or due to standing for long hours etc. avoid standing for prolonged period of time. Take break in short intervals. Walking or running is ok but not standing for long. Do follow doctors advice here. Check if weight could be adding to the issue. As far as I am aware surgery is the only way.

Thank you so much for the reply.
I am yet to check with a doctor here. I talk to my PCP about this during my last physical. She said I can go on with wearing the compression stockings.
I will go back and ask for referral to any veins specialist.
Do you know anyone who had this surgery before?how is their experience?

:hello:My ex neighbour - a retired man tall in his seventy + years seen rain or shine, engaged daily in vigorous walking in terrace for over an hour between 5 and seven. Before surgery for varicose of veins in his left rear thigh, he was regular in walking on terrace.
    2. Once I met him after surgery, enquired about efficacy and ease about day to day activities. He said walking keeps him comfortable. He told abut the moderate relief that he used to feel in following home made remedies.
    3. After reading your post, I spoke over phone to my long time friend today and inter alia enquired about varicose he had. He said but for occasional pain in the region he had undergone surgery, he is able to carry on but walking as before continues.
    4. I trust long walk helps to a great extent. If not possible, spot walking be ok. Home remedies suggested by @kveena might be efficacious. Follow other precautions recommended by others here and adopt convenient ones posted in google.

    Regards.

no the person I know did not opt for surgery as they have another condition called vasculitis. For them walking helps also avoiding standing has improved the situation. Sorry I couldn’t be of further help.
