Were you born in a barn, would you like some hay?

Says the mother to a child whose room is unbelievably untidy and dirty. That is a line from a 2009 song by comedian Anita Renfroe that takes all the things a mom says to a child in a 24 hour period and compresses them in a 2 min 55 second song. I use that barn--hay line often in my daily or weekly dosage of scolding or nagging that I am required to deliver to my child. : ) Watch the video if you haven't already, it is so real and funny.

Do you remember how your parents scolded you in your childhood? Or, how did they remind you of things to do and not do? What do you remember the most of the scoldings or nagging/reminders?

If you have kids, what is the most common nagging or scolding your child gets from you? : ) Is it mostly in your mother-tongue or English? Are you so predictable that your child can complete your sentence when you are mad at them? : )

I have so many, it will take many posts to list them all. : )

The most common one I used to say are
    - How many times do I have to tell you?
    - You are wasting so much food. Do you know there are children in Africa who ...
    - You take so much water to finish your shower. There are children who walk barefoot for miles and back to get a bucket of water.

    :hello:..Welcome back @Rihana

The most common lines of my scolding to the kid are...
1: If you are not cleaning your study table, all the things which are there will go to the dustbin. This works most of the time.
    2: Get up! Final warning!
3: Dont waste paper! You know it very well how many trees they cut to make this.
4: If you cant respect and value the support grandma is providing, from tomorrow, i shall leave u at home and lock you in a room with no facilities.

I tried so hard to remember. Probably it's out of my memory. Few I could recollect after much thoughts

    1) If you tell lies God will take away your eyes.
    2) If you don't eat vegetables you'll not remember anything in exam.
    3) if you don't study you'll end up being in a dash job. (don't wanna mention that because i have realized that none of the jobs are low)
    4) If you waste food God will punish you.
    5) this one is from my Mami whom we used to visit in summer vacation. "if you don't finish your food, I'll pack it and tie it on your head " . This literally made me imagine her packing in a cloth and tying on my head. Used to just gobble the food if she ever said that.

These are typical from dad. Mum never scolded. :tonguecrazy::tonguecrazy: She used to support us so much that dad used to scold 3 of us. Mum, me and sister.

My mom still scold me for so many things..... and that makes me to live in my childhood all the time :)
    She usually say,
    - How can you sleep like this when things are undone at home in the morning?
    - Why are you staying awake late at nights and do nothing?
    - Why do you take head bath at nights, and then complain of headache?
    - Why do you complain of all the gastritis problems, and then eat spicy fast food?
    - How can you roam inside the house as if no one would ever visit you? Go comb your hair, change your PJ, and dress up the kids (as if our home is a transit center for guests to come in at any time)

And I don't fail to do my share of scholding to the kids
    - Why are you shouting?
    - Why the TV volume is so high
    - Why can't you play outside of the house
    - Why can't you eat simple food like other kids
    - Why do you take this long for a shower
    - Why do you fight all the time when you can resolve your problems amicably between the two of you
