Escape From Nothingness

    Today I had gone to my club for lunch and as soon as I entered its restaurant a blast of noise hit. me. The noise came from a crowd of ladies (repeat a crowd , not a group) having kitty parties.

    Plural yes, because there were three groups (And three is a crowd, a group or individuals). And two of them were busy playing tambola a k a housie.. To my horror, I found that one group seated near me had a couple of kids , girls, who certainly had not crossed the primary school level.

    Whenever I go to the club I find some ladies having a kitty party there. Obviously they are not working women but housewives. Kitty parties seem to be the opium of bored housewives.

    But dragging kids to a game of Tambola? What kind of values are you teaching them? If you grow up and become a bored housewife, turn to kitty parties?

    Seriously, do these parties and games mirror the inner emptiness of these women who have nothing meaningful or fulfilling to do? Are they an escape from nothingness?

    Time to change clubs. : ) Perhaps after invoking Groucho Marx's reason to leave a club... : )

    Often it is neglected housewives, not bored. They might have husbands who think that taking care of the financial needs of the family is their only responsibility.

    From the tone of your post, it clearly shows you look down on kitty parties. I do not think there is anything wrong if the women have the means and time at their disposal and our happy whiling away time in this manner. The tendency to glorify a housewife who slogs it out in her home - often with no appreciation of her efforts by the family - is very much prevalent. Ofcourse exposing children to such an atmosphere is clearly not OK.

    Why should boys have all the fun? Why not girls?
    Whats wrong in kitti parties. They are spending their time and money with their friends. What should others worry about it ?

    "the inner emptiness of these women who have nothing meaningful or fulfilling to do" -What a degrading statement from a man. Grow up. Do you knew any of those women ? Their journey, their struggles, how their husbands behave to them. How much they struggle for family or kids... Dont judge anyone from its cover. So you expect housewife to stay home for ever and sacrifice and not enjoy anything... wow.. sorry...You can go to club, why not they-what a double standard. Time to change your prejudices on others.

    But I agree with you in one thing, they should not take kids with them. May be no body to take care of kids in home.

    Its their life, their decision. No one has any right to comment on it as its not affecting anyone else' life. Happy for them. Enjoy ladies.

    Rihana, if I accept Groucho Marx's reason I will not be a member of any club. I keep Getting invitation to join some club or other If those clubs are ready to have me as a member ( AT A PHENOMENAL PRICE OF COURSE), thdre must be something seriously wrong with them. As for neglected housewives, they tend to be bored. But to lead a fulfilling meaningful life you don't have to depend on your spouse.

    :hello:Pertinent and right questions call it retort. 2. this reminds one of visual add for scooter by a cine star turned model.
    3. In life one of my chief observations is that if one loses the other gains. If one enjoys in kitty partying the other remains unhappy. If one makes merry some one in his home is in sorrow. If it pains one the other gets gains. If one enjoys with kids in club the other could be toiling fatigued elsewhere. One man's joy is another's cause of sadness. What is seemingly empty might be full to the brim or even overflowing from another angle.
    4. Kids learn by observation and they try to know bad and good as they grow from everyone in action. It could be parents in club.
    5. But then why men gather in club and why not women shoul not in their club with or without their "issues"?!?!?!?!
    God is overseeing clubs unisex or otherwise.

    KashmirFlowetr I am no fan of Golf. In fact I loathe it. I can say a lot of things aboiut it but the moderators might see red finding my remarks indecent.

    Having said that golf is still a sport but kitty party is not. You get some exercise and get to breathe fresh air in golf but not in kitty party.
