    Hi OP,

When my son started school, he faced the same issue. Actually he had pneumonia and it was bad. He used to suffer from cough and cold every winter and rainy seasons since then for 4 years until i started giving him turmeric milk everyday for the past 2 years.

I just add 2 pinches of turmeric powder in his regular horlicks. It works wonders. He doesnt have the cough and phlegm anymore.

But this takes time. You need to give do this continuously for atleast three months to feel or see the change. i give him everyday irrespective of the seasons.

Also, one other thing to note about turmeric is that it absorbs better in a hydro-soluble form. However, if usng for a toddler, the low dose may be more appropriate. And, of course, check with your doctor.

Boil 1 cup of milk with 1/8th of a teaspoon (a pinch to a tad) of turmeric powder. Toss between a tumbler and dabara to cool it down to the appropriate level for the toddler. Mix in about half a teaspoon of honey before you put it in the sippy-cup for the child to drink. This is done everyday, so that the child gets used to the idea that a slight honey'd turmeric'y taste is the mummy's special night-time drink.
When the child goes to preschool, s/he would need all the immune-strength from a daily dose of that.

Investigate "liposomal vitamin C" using google.

A glass of luke warm water everyday, first thing in the morning, helped my child to recover from frequent cold and cough.

For current cold and cough: grate a piece of ginger then with fingers squeeze to get about 1/2 spoon of juice, add a spoon of honey and 1/4 spoon turmeric, mix and give it to her. Don't give water after this for sometime. Run a hot shower and sit with her in bathroom full if vapour. Then get her to blow her nose. The phlegm will easily come out. For food, daal khichadi, soup, even Maggie works.
For prevention, dip your pinky in pure ghee and gently apply it inside her nostrils when going out. It catches any dust and doesn't let it inside. I used to have frequent colds due to dust and my dadi did this. Give her chawanprash, turmeric milk, yoghurt, oranges regularly. Vitamin c and probiotics are helpful for immunity as well as fighting infections.
