An American Princess.. Its biography of a woman named Allene Tew. I am almost close to completing it. She is from nineteenth century and lived in gilded age. She married multiple times and one of her husbands was a prince. She lived in a time where a woman can advance her position either by birth or marriage and she was not rich by birth and used marriage to improve her situation. I liked her positive attitude towards life and determination to seek happiness. BTW.. its on Prime read if anyone is interested.

I am reading The immortal life of Henrietta Lacks.. She is an African american patient at Johns Hopkins whose cells were taken to create a cell line called HeLa cells. They played important role in many medical advances like developing Polio Vaccine. Her cells were taken without the patient's or family's consent. The book deals with the family's opinions and feeling regarding what happened, what is legal and what is ethical in medical research and how commercialization eventually took over something that started with good intentions.

another terry Pratchett: the amazing maurice and his educated rodents.

A take on pied piper : "they would have really been amazed if they'd ever found out that the rats and the piper met up with a cat somewhere outside of town and solemnly counted out the money."

witty, satirical , saying things as they r in real life : i loved it. it has a talking cat & educated rodents, both cat & rats have become intelligent after eating some magical stuff outside Unseen University & now they can think & talk , even sbegin to read. thus begins their adventure as they plan to take on another city ( for the last time because "rats dont steal !!"), only this city has a lot more going on than the numerous rats bothering the people, something sinister lurking underground.
the arts have interesting names: Dangerous Beans, Nourishing, Sardines : names they read off tin cans in rubbish, this is what happens when you learn to read before u understand the meaning : !!
an interesting read, i plan to introduce my daughter ( 8yr) to terry partchett works , the stories are gripping, witty, with life advice thrown in.
