Faith and only faith. In the eyes of God, are all equal and He cares for them. I was reading somewhere that the only person who could say about life before and after death is and was Jesus Christ. He died and resurrected after three days to tell about Heaven and all that. So we should have trust in Him. Only He can lead us to heaven. It is therefore our devotion and faith. It is that faith only that turns a stone into God.

I came across this post and was too tempted not to respond....
First of all I apologize in advance because I am going to respond from a feminist point of view but I will try my best not to offend anyone. When it comes to vedic wisdom, is there any wisdom I can pick and implement from the vedas in my daily struggles, at work, home and my life in general?? I don’t know so please guide me.

My problem with vedas are that- they like any other religious scripture have been managed by a certain group of individuals. These individuals have not allowed the rest of society and especially women to contribute to this wisdom.

All the wisdom i gained from my mom, aunts and grand mothers, which I am thankful for and can implement in my day to day life have not been captured in any religious scriptures.

With that i still consider myself blessed to be born as a Hindu. Our civilization is the only civilization that still survives and thrives among other ancient civilizations. For this, instead of vedas I will call out our collective wisdom in Ayurveda, yoga and the wisdom from our folklore that includes MahaBharata Ramayana and so many more stories which we can even today implement in our lives.

Another thing I admire about Hinduism is that the focus on both Bhakti and Karma rather than only Bhakti. I believe that the more we focus on Karma - and that too the wisdom in doing the right thing, the more grounded we are and the more closer to God we can get.

:hello:A student was asked to write few lines about VEDAS.
He wrote thus: “She” is girl next door. And her father is practising Ayur Veda.

:hello:From ATM withdrew money in crisp currency notes of ₹100 denomination. Counted and counted repeatedly found one note in excess.
The bank was adjacent to ATK kiosk.
When told of excess dispensing ATM machine, manager told that it comes under different management and so he can’t accept excess dispensed amount and to enjoy the “luck”.
From there, On a two wheeler proceeded to city without helmet. At red signal stopped when from his hiding, a traffic Constable in his liveries approached demanding fine Rs 100 for plying scooter without wearing helmet.
What Luck Gave with right, traffic man collected with left issuing instant receipt.
KARMA balanced within few minutes. That is power of Karma.
    Thanks and Regards.

(As I said, there is no way running away from karma. If one can do karma as per Dharma, Hinduism or any other, there is no need for Bhakti. Karma without attachment to the results is Bahkti. )

I am really thankful to you for discussing the matter from practical aspect of life. I hope I have added my scant bit to it.

There is always someone waiting to benefit from some windfall. On a lighter side, I got one 2000 rupee note which appeared like fake and I went to the Bank manager next door who refused to accept that their ATM can dispense such notes. The CCTV camera also was of not use. I could not find anyone to whom I may pass on that note and destroyed it lest some CBI or ED chap put me behind bars for trying to encash fake note.

:hello:sorry to note that you got fake 2k note from atm.
Counterfeit agents and the contractor men filling atm chest are hand in glove near indo pak Bangladesh borders. Recently complaints of atm dispensing fame 2m notes reported in coimbatore south India.
While discussing dome issue with public sector bank manager, a customer darted into the cabin and showed Xerox copy of 500 rupee note claiming to have been received with bundle from teller counter. It was followed by altercation between teller manger and him.
The man wanted to complain to police. A tactful manager received the Xerox and paid him 500 from his pocket to a oid serious repercussions.
    That is India for you.
    Regards.

I wonder how could Shankara travel all parts of the country, establish four maths in the four corners of the country at Sringeri, Badrinath, Puri and Dwarka within a short span of time (he died at the age of 32) in those days when means of transport were just negligible.

I would like share whatever I have come to know
vedas are words of wisdom 'heard' or realised by ancient rishis , (The word Rishi means a Seer, from dris, (दृश) to see. He is the Mantra-Drashta, seer of Mantra or thought. which was not his own. The Rishis saw the truths or heard them.)...so many and vast knowledge, handed down orally through many generations. Lord vishnu is said to have taken the avatar of sage vyasa,
(Vyasaya vishnu rupaaya vyasa roopaya vishnave-vishnu sahasranamam)
and compiled them and gruped them into four sections...as we generally know as rig, yajur, sama and atharva. They can also be grouped in a dif. way...mantra (brahmacharya), Brahmana (grahasthas), aaranya/upasana (vanaprasthas) and finally upanishads(sannyasins). Vyasacharya then wanted the common man to benefit from the scriptures, srutis and compiled Puranas and Ithihasas . In the Mahabaratha, he wanted to bring the entire gist of the upanishads and wrote Bagavad Gita.. and as glorified by the advaita philosopher Madhusudhana Saraswathi in the gita dhyana sloka.....
    sarvopaniṣado gāvo "dogdhā gopālanandanaḥ |
pārtho vatsaḥ sudhirbhoktā dugdhaṁ gītāmṛtaṁ mahat ॥ 4 ॥ This is the reason all acharyas of our sanatana dharma pay their respects to Veda vyasa teacher of teachers next only to Iswara.
Vedas didnt differentiate between male and female, except initially due to transactional purpose, later when we have attained the dharma, artha, kama pursuits, upanishads talk about Atman, the genderless absolute Truth. There were Gargis, Maithreyis who were great in philosophy and brahmavadinis. Vedas are the way of life for all human beings. It recognises the needs of human life and prescribes solutions in gradual doses , we can say.
700 years of invasions and destruction as well as 300 years of occupation made all the glory disappear. Even we were all made to learn history only from the buddha period and the British saw to it that the cultural, educational systems were modified so that we could be broken..but failed.....all this is history now. Naturally we all adopted the western approach, failing to grasp something tangible, looking everything through science. That is why our scriptures advocate value given to veda pramanas.
