    :hello:
    And
    @satchitananda
they demonstrated to the world and to those especially handicapped or differently abled what it matters. Sheer will power mind over the matter.
Arunima Sinha is the first female amputee to scale Mount Everest and Mount Vinson. She was a national level volleyball player who was pushed from a running train by some robbers in 2011 while she was resisting them. As a result, one of her legs had to be amputated below the knee.
    Long live the human spirit.
    Thanks and Regards.

I often wonder what kind of will power they have and where they get so much mental strength from.

    Dear Satchi,

The whole snippet is a great example of what I was trying to communicate in the snippet titled, "Invoking subtlety from adversities". The human mind works towards a solution quicker when the adversity is stronger. They have some special skills which normal human beings lack i.e. extraordinary courage and strength. Cheeniya Sir gave two great examples and their accomplishments with their limitations are far reaching than normal human beings.

Yes, with all these stories in front of me, I am now trying to gather the inspiration to make it to Kailas-Manasarovar next year. Keeping my fingers (toes and eyes) crossed!

Manasarovar, yes. But Kailas? I would recommend having dharshan of Kailas from Manasarovar instead of Parikrama trip. It is hard and bad for your knees.

I am planning to go with the Isha group. I don't know if they do the entire parikrama or just one face. Let us see.

This is a rare disease, named Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), first reported in 1692, the genetic basis of which has only recently been established. If you visit the Mütter Museum in Philadelphia, you can see two skeletons donated to the museum by patients who succumbed to the disease. The latest one - that of Carol Orzel, who died in 2018 - went on display just a few months ago. The story is here, and here.

Harry Eastlack, who donated his body to the museum in the 70s, set off a race to find the mutation responsible for the disease. Fittingly, that mystery was solved in 2006, at the laboratories at U-Penn just a few blocks away, by Frederick Kaplan.

The museum is a treasure, well worth a visit, especially if you have budding young scientists or physicians in the family. I try to take a peek every time I am in town.

    Dear madam,
A thoughtful snippet. The subject matter is being talked about for long. God has to close one door before He decides to open another.A recent experience.
My husband is 81. He was short of hearing for sometime. Ear cleaning and ENT treatment didn't help. After trying for 6 months ENT specialist suggested Hearing aid as he had 60% hearing loss.So we spent nearly Rs 30, 000 and got hearing aid and soon he got adjusted to that.
On Apr 15th ,on Vishu day he fell down in the bath room. X ray, CT Scan, MRI etc were taken. The entire right hand was swollen. The tests revealed dislocation of shoulder joint , fracture in elbow joint and two other small fractures. As he is a cerebral haemorrage patient, he was not advised surgery but only POP ( plaster of paris bandage covering the entire right hand for 2 months. I am his right hand for the past two months.
Coming to the issue, doctor prescribed a course of Vitamim D.3 as the blood test revealed deficiency.
On taking three capsules of Vit D. 3, once a week, his hearing improved and now he is able to hear even sounds of low volume and he needs no hearing aid at all.
The fracture, though a complicated one causing lot of pain resulted in the in take of Vit D. 3 curing hearing ailment.
Is fracture, the pain , a blessing in disguise to have a gain of restoration of hearing?
Life is full of so many anecdotes each giving us a valuable lesson.
