Wanted to add that many people might take your thoughts in a way wrong way. So it is best not to discuss it with many.

Hopefully when you put down everything in a journal, things will be clearer. And you might also get a feel of things that are totally out of your control and a total mess and you still, have to be okay with it and move past it and enjoy/ tolerate the chaos

    Amulet,
I have read several of your posts and you seem to come across as a very very pragmatic person. I wish I was half as wiser. It is a pleasure to read what you write. Keep sharing.

    Very nice thread OP.
I guess we all have such introspection every now and then. We all are evolving.
I don't think too much now, just try to live by the motto, one day at a time, just this one day.

:hello:one is inclined to think of a cat enviously which is said to possess numerous lives depending upon the country you live in. It varies from 6 to 9.
    2. If only we lived on sumbrageous trees and evolved like cats, probably we also would have as much as 9 lives. In maths 9 is magic number and it is magic that cat and I survived many falls not necessarily from tall trees or skyscrappers or ancient heritage buildings.
    3. Like cat we have large surface area compared to my weight, one can easily withstand endure the impact of fall and survive yet.
    4. OP desires views for surviving from IL women With predicaments as hers. But there are men folk who had similar if not identical ailments or and predicaments with experience of continuously surviving similar odds as of OP. One has already had made comforting statements to OP.
    5. BUT I think irrespective of gender, certain cues are available to your queries of “wishful thinking” from cats' life or lives in link
The facts behind a cat’s nine lives

    1. could be a better wife if the spouse put in as much energy and enthusiasm into the marriage.
In matching horoscopes of groom and bride these are taken care of ; when a period of lows for groom is matched with period of highs of bride so that a blue print of their life journey on even keel is forecasted. That is the benefit of arranged marriage practised in India in certain communities.

    2. I could be a better employee if not for the politics at work.

One is in utopia to find an organisation to work at any level without politics. It is ubiquitous in all work places in all countries in all multi or national organisations.

    3. I could be a better daughter and daughter in law if others focused on being positive.

In laws seemingly negative in the beginning, change their perspectives with passage of time. Their lack of positivity is due to changing circumstances after their ward’s wedding.

    4. I have so much happiness to share but alas, no takers.

If this being true, the query at 1 &2 seems irrelevant.

    5. Is it my loss or is it their loss ?

Happiness is only state of mind. It is upto the individual to determine whether she or he remain happy.

    6. Is this just life and part of being an adult?

Again the answer for this could be akin to what I stated at sub para 5 above.

    7. I would be interested to know if there are women here that have had such moments and ways to deal with it.

Few have already supplied answers which I deem suffice to conclude your analysis.

    Thanks and Regards.

God is overlooking blemishes and factors in only services rendered to humanity.

You might want to try using a daily journal called pandaplanner for 2-4 months and see if it helps. Be Happier & More Productive

Manisha, I have a confession to make: I'm not sure I correctly understood your post. If I got it all wrong, please set me right.

What do you mean by "better" wife/daughter/DIL? How would a better version of you be different from the current version?

Politics are a part of life. They are a part of every interaction with other human beings. Learning to navigate politics is an essential life skill.

Your loss, of course! They don't know you could be better; they only see what you do.

I don't know what adulthood is all about and hope to never find out. :p

I've never been one to look back — not even to count blessings. Here's what does it for me: helping someone else — especially a stranger from whom I can't expect an ROI.

Your posts reveal a strong and wise person. This is either a moment of weakness or I have the wrong end of the stick.

If people like Raja Rammohan Roy were content with status quo, then we will be still lining up Sati queue and tattling on fellow women on who deserves to be on the pyre more. And most men will be happy to be in decision making bench, smoking sutta.

Don't second guess your questions. But do tame them, by journaling/ writing/ filing/ compartmentalizing.

All social reformers found better ways of doing things by questioning the things/ structure in place.

May be you will be the social reformer or provoke someone else to be a social reformer.

Just because things are working currently, doesn't mean they are the best way to work. If everyone was okay to be "khao pio mast raho" then we will not be having any of the current day stuff.

We can't be a big social reformer because for that- all stars have to be lined up- but we can make small, very small difference, while living our comfortable lives.

It is true that we have only one life to live. The message, therefore, is, make the best of it. The most important thing is to own our actions. Once we start doing that everything else looks so simple. A life without ups and downs is no life. I always say nothing is static. If there are some bad times, it will also pass.
