:hello:I enjoyed reading your reviews and the intensity and choice of words you have used here describe the pleasure of reading is awesome . An avid reader would set out to grab these books you had relished & listed here and he or she won’t be disappointed. I shall wait for Indian editions though.
The last one based on global warming patterns too could be quite interesting as how species in hundreds likely turn extinct in few years.
    Thanks and Regards.

After reading the GOT series, I decided I wanted realism and decided on W&P. With that over, I'm onto SciFi after a long hiatus. I'm currently reading Leviathan wakes and loving it :) I think my brain is made for dystopia.

Thank you Sir! If I have to pick one from my last dozen or so reads I will recommend Educated by Tara Westover for you. I think you will enjoy reading the journey of a girl who went from being raised in a survivalist family that lived off the grid, shunned public school education and didn't believe in modern medicine, to a PhD from Cambridge University. Tara Westover was 17 when she first set foot in a classroom. By 29 she was a bestselling author with a doctorate. If you read it I would love to hear your thoughts. : )

read two books : the tears of the girraffe : alexander mccall smith & I shall wear midnight by terry pratchett.
both in continuation of the previous books i read.
tears of girraffe is in same style as the other books on Mma Ramotswe series. i really enjoy reading these cozy mysteries with valuable insights thrown in. most of all it describes african small town life & i am surprised to see how similar their culture is to our indian culture: of long afternoons, of family ties, of general outlook on life so similar to ours.. i mean it is different from the families in american or european literature , there characters are more individualistic I think.
Terry pratchett : while i enjoyed the previous two books of Tiffany Aching, I think this was a bit heavy. i lost track quite a couple of times & could not understand the concept of the cunning man following her through books, mirrors etc. I was quite at a loss here.
but as usual, the book was full of important advice on life, some things really hit home.

with many other issues in life right now, I read the contrasting books in parallel ( again the themes of individual vs family) & i cannot help but remark how that is exactly the situation I am facing right now. Coincidence ??

You don't know me but if you have lurked or grazed in the forums even irregularly, you might have heard a distant howl now and then from someone who talks like an endless dictaphone. That's me! Amused by the 'fan girling Pratchett', I accosted you. I realize you like reading the works of Terry Pratchett. You also admire his writing style. And you are temperate in your devotion.

    On the other side ...

I am shameless! If I whack someone with a book, it better be TP's! I am evangelical! I am biased! I am almost discriminating of people who haven't read Terry Pratchett. 'What?! No Terry Pratchett. I don't think we will have much in common to exchange beyond this full stop.'

Noticed that folks who read Pratchett are unafraid iconoclasts. These readers are discerning! They are imaginative! But never revoltingly sentimental. Their outlook and self-expression about life is shaped by these amusing works. I have not found any TP fan bogged down in life with pathos and gravitas. They tend to be buoyant amidst the absurdity. They are like hellium balloons of levity. Such distinguished joviality, in fact, aroused me to inquire : what's the elixir? Terry Pratchett.

Since I have discovered TP, have I demystified the living? No, but I like myself more for my tastes that I found writers like TP endearing.

I wanted to 'hi, you' and confide that every fan girl pipes up on hearing Terry Pratchett. Don't tamp down that excitement. I feel honored that I found a kindred gush in you. I have recommended the books to all my dull friends so zealously that I am a recommendation away from getting blocked on whatsapp. I am waiting for my toddling nephew to just sight the damn alphabets so that he can start reading Terry's delights.

Terry Pratchett once remarked: "The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it." That's the reason TP fans have a turnstile for a hijacked mind to admit only other TP fans.

    Hello, fangirl!

I may not be a very active member here, but even I know how big a deal it is to get a shout out from you :). I am a great admired of yours in this birth(ahem, the other births of yours too )

Maybe both of us can start an 'Indusladies Terry Prachett Admiration Society'. The entry criteria would be to quote 5 Terry Prachett quotes verbatim. What do you say?
