Eat slowly and properly chew your food. You will feel full and at the same moment stop eating. Then eat only when you feel hungry. Exercise atleast twice a day. Morning and Evening/Night. This mantra is very useful for me. Hope it will work for you too.

If I may give some advice here, please don't mind...
Since you mention that after 5 pm , you have little control over yourself , it seems to me that you are under eating consciously before that time and giving wrong messages to your body, which thinks you are going to starve.

A healthier approach would be eating every 2-3 hours with satiating food items, so that the body feels full and doesn't undergo desperate hunger pangs. The hunger pangs lead us to eat, whatever junk or ow we can lay our hands on , which only further ups the appetite without satiating the real hunger.

you do need healthy carbs out of roti/rice etc for the body.
Our metabolism demands to maintain a healthy level, we should start eating early and filling breakfast. Breakfast should have good protein and carbs in the diet. Indian breakfast like upma/poha/ idli all meet these requirements. If you are ok with eggs ,they are the best. Fruits like banana are also great and complete food item in itself.
    keep drinking water intermittently
Then in the next 2-3 hours you need to have a fruit , nuts etc
Lunch should also have regular meal with salad accompaniments ( maybe here you can tweak the quantities bit by bit, every week or 2-3 weeks after getting your body adjusted to a lower level of food intake; but it should not be drastic)
Another 2-3 hours later , you need your tea/coffee with nuts or it could be a bowl of fruits
Then you need to have an early supper/dinner , which is a bit lesser in quantity but have all nutritional requirements.. so roti with veggies/dal and buttermilk etc.

If you still feel hungry after this meal , one should try to eat veggies to fill up the tummy or maybe a bit of milk if it suits you!
I think you know most if it, but hope it helps to reiterate . Discipline is the key here
    All the best

I know how are you feeling, I can understand it I am on the same path. I did keto for 60 days I lost 18 kgs with 6-inch waist lose. The only thing we have to do is give the best. I prepare a 60 days calendar daily I used to cross a day from the 60days it feels good day by day I can see the changes after completing my 60days I smiled because of my change in food and lifestyle. Now I am wearing clothes which bought ten years ago. Losing weight not depend on exercise or diet it depends mostly on Lifestyle. I changed my lifestyle completely. My 18 kgs success come from Lifestyle change + Diet and Playing a sport daily to make myself active.

    Hey OP,

Try Healthify ME app. I signed up for it for a short duration as a trial. They provide dietitian and exercise trainer specifically. The app lets you track your food intake, water intake and the trainers will be in touch with you constantly to motivate.

You will be added to support groups where people will keep posting about their everyday goal achievement also.

Since you say you are not able to track or follow your diet/ exercise routine strictly, try this app once and see if it works for you!

I agree to your POV @Afresh This is what the physicians suggest. Eating 2-3hrs once in small quantity. Drink good amount of water.

Fruits would be the best substitute for snacks...but once in a while u can eat your favt snacks too.

@Alyssum just cutting is not enough...start with some physical activities too...there should be balance btw eating and burning calories...
