Would be grateful if you could kindly support the petition to the concerned departments to look into this matter on change.org

Dear madam, I felt very sad on reading the report from Times of India. We have too many questions and no answers.
I just gave the title, just to show that women have torture not only from the expected corner but also from other fields as well. Many of the snippets we receive have an unconnected title.

Women having to choose between a job that pays money and the ability to have babies or to retain their body as a whole is simply sad. Adding to the seriousness is the fact that it is not limited to developing countries, and it does not get as much exposure as other news (Sabarimala entry for example!).

Prison guards in California face the choice of performing regular duty in pregnancy and risking the well-being of their unborn. Risks such as a pregnant's woman finger striking something sharp in an inmate's jacket and she contracting a disease like hepatitis C. Or, a very pregnant guard having to run when an alarm sounds in the prison. There were accommodations made for pregnant women guards which were quietly changed in 2015 (before Trump....). Pregnant prison guards say California forces them to choose: Their jobs or their babies

To think that women workers in 2015 in a country like the U.S.A. have to deal with this is just so unthinkable. In years starting with the digits 2 and 0, women still make some progress and then are made to take a few steps back.

About the sugarcane cutters forced to get partial or complete hysterectomies, it is indeed deplorable. But, rather than blaming only the employers who exploit the women, the bigger issue has to be looked into. For one - it cannot be denied that given a biggish number of women, productivity does go down for some of them during menstruation. More so, among the poor where access to good quality napkins, bathrooms at work (read open fields), pain killers, hormone regulatory medicine and other relief is less. Again, nothing can condone what the employers are getting away with, but we have to look into the reasons too.

A few decades ago, it became fashionable in India for women of middle and upper-middle classes to get hysterectomies almost by choice. A study into what are the pros and cons of voluntary partial or complete hysterectomy in a setting devoid of insurance lobbyists would not be a waste of time and money.

Madam Nakshatra, Thank you for your response. When we are particular in sharing an information, we don't attach much importance to titles.Just because they have self imposed torture just to make both ends meet, it has no where been stated that they should not mind about the normal tortures. These are all very serious issues and I think that relevance to title and the content, literary style or any intention of the snippet writer etc need not be probed, as I am neither a literary stalwart nor a veteran in writing snippets.I have read more than 10,000 snippets from this forum for the past five years. There seems to be no stipulated norm or literary standard prescribed for the same.As I felt very sad for the plight of women,I just shared,That is all.

    Dear Geetha,
this seems to have been going on for years and has caught the attention of the press recently. I do not know if there is any way that we can help these women.

Dear Agatha, This is the sad reality. When so many equipments are there, still they are using traditional methods,-it means that there should be a definite reason behind this in the business man' s point of view.

    Dear Madam Rihana,
Thank you very much for your detailed analysis of the subject in various angles.I also agree that even middle women opted for this operation unable to bear the nuisance everymonth.
This issue has come to lime light very recently.Let us see what best we can do to help them.
