Hi all, last week failed my gtt. So Dr gave me 2 weeks time to control my sugar with diet and exercise else have to take insulin. My Dr wants me to take plasma glucose test for this 2 weeks. Just now got the result for the same fasting 98, pp after 1 hour 134, pp after 2 hour 152. What's the normal range in pregnancy. Currently am 30weeks pregnant. Followed protein rich diet with 20 minutes walking before and after food. Now I have only one more week to go. Today I will meet my Dr. Most of the members in this site recommended walking along with diet to control sugar. Is that mean brisk walking or normal walking helps too?? After going through all the post, for the past one week I followed strict diet along with 1:30hrs walking each day. Still the readings are not fine.
hi , i think your readings are fine. try to reduce carbs in diet. walking is the bets thing you can do to control sugar. dont worry...just be little careful ...all will be well.
Thank you so much for your reply Walking means Brisk walk?? Where we need to sweat a lot. Else normal slow walking will do. Already reduced the carb intake. Morning breakfast 1/2 cup sundal plus one egg Snacks 1/2 cup sundal Lunch millets rice with one cup veggies nd dhal Snack 5-6 almonds Dinner 3 chapathi with half cup curd Before bed 1 glass of milk Before and after each meal am doing 20mins walking at normal speed. Don't know where I am going wrong.
Please walk in normal speed. you need to careful with speed.and personally i think normal is fine. i had GD and with controlled diet it was fine.what i did was to reduce chapati and rice ( sometimes just removed them from my diet ( and has more of salad/ chicken/ egg and curries.)test your glucose level to see which food suits you. dont worry...all will be fine, wish you happy nd healthy delivery.
Thank you so much for your reply. Just now had a call with my Dr. She feels my fasting values are higher it should be less than 90, so she give me another 4 days to control my levels. Already stopped having rice. Now I guess I need to stop chapathi too, planning to go for millets. Let's see. Thanks for your wishes dear
Maybe you can replace milk at night with something else as that might be affecting the morning values. Carrrots/sweet peas with hummus , tofu/ paneer sauted etc. Just a suggestion.
They will refer dieticians how to calculate carbs when you taking meals/snacks. Usually it should be 3 meals and 3 snacks.
Are the readings for the same test ? As in, 98 before eating then eating/drinking the test material. 134 after 1 hour 152 after 2 hours Was there any activity during the test ? like walk-about after eating ? The 2 hour reading is usually smaller than the 1 hour reading, as the body uses up the glucose. However if the above readings are what they are, it simply shows the variability in the test. Your readings are just fine; keep up what you are doing. Get another doc's opinion before insulin. Insulin is a serious thing; should not be used without serious consideration. What is your total weight gain ? Just the difference, not the absolute numbers . Walk normal; whatever feels less risky for the surface you are walking on. If you are on a treadmill, and holding on to the side-rails, and have the emergency stop ribbon hooked up correctly, you can briskify your walk a little, within your comfort level. Otherwise, NO.
