Wish you a great trip to India. Very recently we could sell our small flat which was in a dilapidated condition.Out of eight owners seven were ready to sell. One was not for selling, though the roof was about to fall. For four long years we struggled and struggled. At last the seven flat owners found a single buyer ( a renouned cricket player)who was ready to buy all the seven dilapidated flats at 10% less than market price and he was prepared to deal with the adamant 8th person with his influence. The buyer deducted 1% tax from out of the sale proceeds and paid the balance thro bank draft. As the amount was not very large, we could get a senior citizens' Home in Maraimalainagar to cover capital gains and it would be helpful in case anything happens to one of us as we don't intend settling in US due to health problems.
Wish you all the best in your endeavours.
Hope you will be able to perform Prathama Shraddha ceremonies of your mother satisfactorily.

    My Dearest Vani,

Thank you for your wishes. My son's friend's wedding is on April 17th in Sri Lanka and I am not sure I can attend as I have registration around that time in India. If that date changes, I will still be going to Sri Lanka. Thanks for the tips about the tourist spots.

As far as ceremony is concerned, everything is coordinated by my wife already and all I need to do is to go and perform it. Last time, we spent an entire day in Veda Padasala in Chengalput which was a soul-steering experience. Children around 6-10 were learning Veda and stay in house for 12 years to learn Vedic Scriptures. They are from all our India but so many of them are from Kerala and Karnataka. They had a Gosala also and we performed Go Pooja. Previous occasion, we went to Gosala in Govindapuram as well.

    Dear Smt. Jayasala:

1% tax is for residents and 22% tax for non-residents and foreign nationals, it looks like. Thank you for all the hints you gave earlier about how the priest perform annual rituals. We were well prepared this time.
My parents' property in Adyar is acquired by another person in Adyar itself for building a clinic. Everything is all set but registration. All the approvals have been obtained. Reinvestment has to be thought through when I am in India to get refund of capital gains tax as more than the capital gains tax will be deducted and remitted.

    Thank you for your wishes.

    Dear Caughtinbetween,

Thank you for your kind wishes. I am sure you are having a great time with your little one. Too much to do with little time. Trip to Karnataka, Homams, etc. will be done in April giving a little bit of time after the rituals. We have been using a very close friend of ours for car journey. I will write about this Saturday on Sunday morning. I will resume again on April 27th. If I get WiFi reception, I will keep writing my experiences in India. We have a lot of service activity planned in India as well. I am using my free time in India to write lecture modules for giving Human Value lessons to young children in the US. I am joining a small select group of people to prepare such lesson plans. Life is more interesting to serving others and make them happy at my age.

Thank you uncle for the reply . I missed my mothers first year ritual but my brother was there with my father to perform it.
I would be eagerly waiting to read about all you would do there and specially the service / volunteer part . I have seen people volunteering in temples and blood donation camps but beyond that my exposure was limited in india . Or back then i never thought about it a lot . Only here i became aware of the kind of volunteering services one could offer besides serving in temples . As in teaching , food banks , hospitals , library, community events in neighborhood, girl/boy scouts , causes that you are passionate about. All the opportunities were in india too but no one to blame but my ignorance and slackness . I read somewhere here about how people teach volunteering as a way of life to their kids . Not a privilege . That thought constantly makes me restless because before i teach my child i have to embody it some way. Thats my primary goal for her. I could not write a feedback in your other thread about parenting being lazy as i am i do read and remember it . I will be eagerly waiting for you to complete the life lesson project for kids that you have undertaken . I am sure it will not only help a great deal to kids and their parents at your center but for first time parents like me here to have someone like you guide and show the path ahead . Even if I am able to adapt one or two of those qualities in myself for the kid to emulate it would be worth every efforts . Regards.

    Dear Caughtinbetween,

It is important to teach your child about how to serve the fellow being when your kid is young. Talk a lot about inherent happiness as a human quality that one needs to invoke, at a root level we are all one and character development is the key for a meaningful life. Yes. Children emulate a lot of the parents' quality. They also learn how to accept responsibility for the mistakes.

I have sent a private message agreeing to send the curriculum I have prepared if you like to see it.

    Thanks and regards.

    @Rihana,

Hip issue started when I learned Yoga through Skype. Toes numbness and burning started three years ago. Fortunately, a company called "Good Feet" gave me a wonderful solution in the form of feet strengthening adjuster and shoes that works like a dream. It is a plastic material that helps shape the curve in my feet better distributing my body weight more to the middle and back portion of the feet than toes. It is really helping me now even though I started wearing it only for the past 20 days.

Yes. Mango season will be great but my feet burning is diabetic nerve pain according to the doctors. Even though my sugar level is marginally higher than normal, nerve pain can be caused even before I become diabetic, I understand.

Keep moving, exercise, eat healthy diet and forget the pain is the mantra.
