I buy the Knudsen 2% fat cottage cheese. I bought the Bell Plantation PB2. I think they've changed the packaging, mine looks slightly different but it's the same brand.

Hi, long since I peeped in this side. I have one koschen. Sorry, if it is a silly one, but am not sure whether the cottage cheese you get in the shops is the same as paneer which we make at home. From what I remember, it used to have more liquid content.

The cottage cheese we get here has loose curds and a fair bit of whey making it more liquid like you said. It is the same stuff except to make paneer the whey is drained completely and the curds are pressed into a solid block. Interestingly, whey contains a substantial amount of protein and because it is drained out paneer has a lower protein content than cottage cheese. The whey discarded during cheese-making is used to make protein powder supplements.

Thank you. I love making seasoned curd rice variations with other grains like millets and barley. Definitely going to try this recipe.

Somehow here in India, the store bought paneer is never relished raw like the one we prepare freshly at home though the quality of milk we use is another debate!
Exactly @Gauri03 ! this whey is one power packed creation , which we at home use to generate gravy for matar paneer and it is delectable !

Somehow the store bought stuff ( which also makes way in my kitchen extensively doesn't hold up in itself to taste buds also)
