It is been about 3 years since I am struggling to lose weight. My main problems are these -

I am not able to maintain consistency in exercise. I exercised for 5 days in a row. Now I have got cold, sore throat, probably fever too (since my pulse is very high). I can't sleep in the night beyond 6 hours for unknown reasons. And I feel tired the whole day because of the lack of sleep. I have severe bloating, acidity. I don't know why I am hitting roadblocks in my exercise schedule. With the cold and sore throat I skipped the exercise yesterday, I don't want to skip today, but I am constantly belching and I feel nauseous. Yesterday, I ate breakfast at around 9.30 am or so. Today, around 9.00 am. I am trying to eat something early in the morning so that I don't have acidity issues. I am very frustrated with the roadblocks. If I try to exercise in any case, I can't sleep in the night. I tried listening to meditation videos over the phone, it helped one day, the next day I am having the same problem again. I feel so demotivated right now, just nothing seems to be going right from 3 years. And yes, I am very obese now and I don't like the feeling at all. And because of the acidity, I am not having control over sugar. It seems like if I don't have sugar in some form or the other, I can't feel better.

The first thing that you should do is go to a doctor and get your acidity under control. Some home remedies that you can do: eating less spicy food, drinking lots of water, not skipping meals etc.,

Add ginger to your food in liquid or in solid form.It will help you to reduce the bloating.Stop eating food products where your body temperature getting heat which causes cold, sore throat.

Drink lukewarm water with lemon, honey daily with empty stomach.Drink hot water after 30 minutes of your meal.It will help to digest food easily.

@sarvantaryamini - The most important aspect of weight loss is your diet which constitutes 80% of the weight loss journey. Exercise is only 20%. If you have been at it for three years and haven't found any solutions, it's best to start with the basics.
First of all, get a complete health check done to ensure you are having no underlying health issues. Secondly, get your acidity under control by talking to your doctor.

Then, start your weight loss journey. Use a fitness tracker to track your food intake and figure out your daily calories intake. To lose weight, you need to consume lesser calories than you burn. How to figure those numbers out? There are lots of online resources where you can plug in your current weight and height and activity level(I always use the least activity level) and get a ballpark figure on how much you should consume to reduce 0.5 kg a week(which is the most optimal way of losing weight). Trackers like myfitnesspal, have a large database of Indian foods. You can also add your recipes on there to tabulate calories in your recipes. Try that for a few weeks and see if you are able to figure out your diet.

For reflux, my DH decided to eat three meals and two snacks a day spaced out during 2 hourly intervals to give him reprive. He also works out on an empty stomach very early in the morning and then eats(I need food). He says all these things help. Eat foods that suit your stomach but are also friendly toward your health. Try to cut down on oils and fats by measuring the amount of oil/ghee etc you use correctly. Don't eyeball. It never works. Measure everything that you consume so you know exactly how many calories you are using.

Coming to exercise, consistency is key. To be consistent, you have to find something you like to do. Vary it. Try various activities and stick to whatever works for you. You don't have to work out every day initially. Try every other day and slowly work your way up. Definitely give yourself one rest day to recover from all the activity. For beginners, Leslie Sansone walks on YouTube have been the best form of easing into workouts. It can be done at home, with or without weights and for different lengths of time. Start with the lowest possible mileage and work your way up.

Start with baby steps. Don't go all out on week 1. Remember, it's a lifestyle change and you have a long time to do all of this, so start slow and work your way up. It must have taken you years to get to your current weight. Give yourself at least a year to get back in shape.

Good luck! Keep posting on threads here for motivation!

Today I cheated, I ate a frozen chocolate banana because they were giving it in office for free. Should control it. And no exercise so far.

@sarvantaryamini - You can’t control your diet 100% of the time. There will be days where you will make an exception and eat a treat. This is ok as long as you are tracking your calories and not going overboard everyday. Don’t feel guilty afterwards and make yourself feel worse.

What do the labels of these say about the calories ? Paying attention to those numbers would be very useful in your calorie counting scheme. It will help you chart the total input calories in your days.

Mañana is always the best day to start a diet/exercise routine. For today, you'd just have to add up the calories and see how much goes in.

“Sure baby, mañana. It was always mañana. For the next few weeks that was all I heard––mañana a lovely word and one that probably means heaven.”

I wish I could say I was procrastinating. I tried real hard to not touch them. I just feel a low - not mental, actually physical low, that made me want them. I feel mentally and physically drained. I know I should not crib, there are people who are having it far far worse than me, but I am fed up of the mental games inside and outside the house. To put a hard stop on all the cravings and negativity is looking so hard right now. The reason I am posting here is to tell myself how *much* I am going off of my diet and motivate myself. It is so annoying when people take a mental stab and all I can do is agree with them and not pay back in their own coin.
