Yes imbalance in the thyroid hormone leads to hair fall.I have been there too.
1.Please visit a good Endocrinologist, the doctor will do a few thyroid related blood tests and advise you the right medication with a dosage that suits you.Thyroid medication works when taken on an empty stomach 4 hours before breakfast and do not combine it with other medications, setting an alarm to take medication helps.
2.Apart from this also have your vitamin D,B12,Iron and zinc levels tested, vitamin deficiencies can also lead to hair fall and thinning.Take supplements if needed. In case of zinc deficiency eating few dates everyday helps.
3.Avoid excess intake of millets,if any.Research indicates excess intake causes imbalance in the thyroid hormone.
    3. Start working out - exercise at least 30 mins a day,mon to fri, even a brisk walk helps keep you fit, brings your stress levels in control and also helps with the thyroid hormone.
    4. Start taking this energy drink everyday with your breakfast for good vision, glowing skin and beautiful hair.
Ayurvedic Home Made Energy Drink For All Ages
    5.Eat nutritious food
6.Stop using hair products such as chemical shampoos/conditioners,packs and tools, instead use a mild shampoo and a natural conditioner. There are several natural shampoos, hair oil and hair pack recipes found in this site which can be easily made with the ingredients available in your kitchen or you could purchase natural hair products from any authentic 'Ayurveda' store in Hyderabad and use.

If you wish to have thicker and stronger hair, and reduce hair fall problems, use Lalam Oil Plus. This hair oil helps in reducing hair fall, promotes new hair growth, and makes hair stronger from the roots. Regular usage of Oil Plus makes hair strong, thereby making them appear thick. Also, it increases the volume of hair. It is an ayurvedic hair oil with a hair vitalizer. Use Oil Plus and see reduced hair fall and thicker hair.

Check iron and vit d levels. Take supplements if there a deficiency. Also apply the henna monthly once and hair oil like ayurvedic ones 2-3 time a week. Try to avoid conditioner till hair fall stop. Sleep well. Be gentle with hair. Dont put tight hair style. All this helped me.

    Hi Virtualkv2020,

I'm not sure what's going on as I've noticed a lot of hair fall recently. No weight gain, I had some stress in October (I was studying for last medical boards) but the hair fall started after. I've never really had dandruff, but while studying I got this like weird itchy plaque at the back of my scalp that I would constantly pluck and peel, I thought it was psoriasis, but it wasnt. My Vit D levels were normal. Thyroid is normal.

The redness has gone down significantly and the size as well, but I just dont know what to do about it.

Because of the stress, I thought maybe I had some sort of stress induced hormonal dysfunction w/ cortisol levels high, so I started taking ashwagandha bid, and I'm not sure if it's helping or not. When I first started taking it, I thought it was helping a lot, but then I realized that eating avocadoes daily might have been helping it. When I take ashwagandha even now, I get really hot, so I'm thinking of stopping it (it has been almost 2 months anyways).

I purchased neem oil and will start applying that to the scalp area.

As for other things, health is fine. I'm in early 30s, good metabolism, meditate, and work-out 2 hours daily 6-7x/week (winters it's usually a walk outside, summer yoga, spring - some sport) .

I was hoping u could make some recs, bc honestly I just don't know what to do. If u know of a good ayurvedic who I can consult over the phone, I would greatly appreciate it. Or even better, if u know of someone in the states, I could do the same.

    Thanks

My hair texture is fine and during the winters i struggle with a lot of hairfall, which is heart-breaking for sure. So, i have instead in natural shampoo that are free from toxins and alcohol to avoid the dryness caused by them. I made the switch to the protein shampoo for hair by the moms co., and it is by far the best thing i have invested in for my hair care, so good! and so affordable !
