    "Ah! It went black again!",
I pinched myself, felt the pain.
It looked as if I was arraigned.
I mumbled and felt raw again.

It takes quite a long while to know
Precious little things about the one
With whom you'll live long and go
One day, though you'll still long then.

You come to know that each in fact,
Have a glass wall around us which
Gets sooted, by a sharp word or act,
Feel hurt and stay distant as much.

Perhaps a simple fact comes back
To haunt you. Yes, we indeed hurt
Our dear ones the most, as we lack
Our courtesy. Now, does this hurt?

We reconcile and continue as if
    Nothing happened and the wall
    Looks brighter, before another miff
Paints it black and things are stalled.

Not all are bold enough to break
That wall and adapt without a fuss.
It it were mutual, it would be great!
What stops us from being the best?

    Deep! And, bitter truths!
    Ego? :relaxed:

Thanks @kaniths for your like and feedback. Yes, ego is perhaps the prime factor. But there are others too! -rgs

    Dear @rgsrinivasan
    Beautiful poem....
    I loved these last lines,
“Not all are bold enough to break
That wall and adapt without a fuss.
It it were mutual, it would be great!
What stops us from being the best?”
According to me,Our ego, pride and letting go of things stops us from being the best.

    Superbly written

Just a small note on your last line - it is about not letting go of things that forms one of the reasons. -rgs
