Not many new posts getting posted, most action happening only in Interesting Shares section, and Geeta deletes her response to a nightie post. :shakehead: Injustice!

Coming to the matter at hand... : ) Some more information is needed.

    1. Rs 2000 fine if caught wearing nightie. That is clear. But, about Rs 1000 if reporting a woman wearing nightie in forbidden timing... Is that award available to women only or men and women? Conflicting information was found on googling it. Yes.. a slow afternoon had me googling the award details.

This says any one reporting gets Rs 1000: In AP village, wear nightie before sunset, pay Rs 2,000 fine - Times of India

This says any woman who informs about the erring woman gets Rs 1000: Come sunset and women of this village cannot wear nightie...or else they will be fined - News24online | DailyHunt

Also, is the reporting award available to next of kin such as husband and MIL?

    2. Next: Is the sarpanch's first name really Fantasia? Fantasia Mahalakshmi?

    3. Are similar rules in the works for men wearing lungi hiked up to above knee level?

Nightie always keep coming up in the news. Here is one about a school sending note to parents that they should not drop off kids wearing nightie or half-pants. School asks parents not to wear nighties, burqas

This write-up is really funny: All hail the nightie: The new Indian national dress - Firstpost

Looks like anyone will be getting!

Hahaha. In most parts of South India, men are seen to be freely roaming in Lungis irrespective of the time. No one has reported anything against the same.

The last link is seriously funny.

I remember my childhood. I have never seen any of the ladies in my family roaming in nightie outside the house, except one of my aunt. My granny had warned her several times, not to go out in nighty as it looks odd. But she never gave an ear to her MIL - my granny :tearsofjoy:.

Why ? and Why that particular hour of the day ?
When the sun is low in the sky (east or west) a nightie wearing woman is suitably backlit for a full view of the penumbra. Not safe in/for the public.

Get your mind out of the solar system and out of the gutter, Amulet. Decent women wear petticoat under nightie. Or sometimes even churidar.

Decentest also put on a dupatta before running to answer doorbell courier guy rings.

    @Rihana,
You are in high spirits today! My deleted comment was on the lines of your point number 3! I deleted imagining the said and the unsaid.

In short, according to this rule, one gets fined if covered in a nighty during the day, but no rules apply when the public areas are used for defecation, day or night! Maybe, people must be missing the peep show the saree offers!!!! Ghor kalyug..Kya zamaana agaya re?
