Have you been following the Khashoggi news report?
(Sounds like Mission: Impossible - Terror in Embassy.)

I see that you had shortened your name to Oro. That is Gold in Spanish/Italian. Now that there are many desi tourgroups in Europe, the shop keepers of "Compro Oro" outfits in Spain and Italy give the Indian ladies' neck loads such longing looks.

Cheeniya's inquiry prompted me to reflect on a nickname for my twisted moniker. Oro the mountain, the latin first-person conjugate, gold, what else can I ask for. I seem to represent the entire history of mankind in myself! El Never mind de Oro!

Some American children I know rather well, tell me that they also have to be concerned about student loan liabilities while they date, and certainly before they toss their lot with someone. Although prenuptial assets and liabilities are supposedly held separately, in the heat of legitimatery all manners of promises, and co-mingling of assets could happen.

It is a confusing world out there.

[disclaimer: co-mingling of assets is a phrase found in the instructions to a certain US immigration form, wherein a couple are asked to provide proof of such co-mingling in order to establish the bona fides of their marriage.]

That shortened name search is like the dialogue of a short story (Mark Twain) called "The stolen white elephant":

“Now let us proceed to business—and systematically. Nothing can be accomplished in this trade of mine without strict and minute method.”
He took a pen and some paper. “Now—name of the elephant?”
“Hassan Ben Ali Ben Selim Abdallah Mohammed Mois Alhammal Jamsetjejeebhoy Dhuleep Sultan Ebu Bhudpoor.”
    “Very well. Given name?”
    “Jumbo.”

I just finished the story having never read it before. You might have picked the finest and the pertinent dialogue but the second best that endears me is,

“He will leave Bibles to eat bricks, he will leave bricks to eat bottles, he will leave bottles to eat clothing, he will leave clothing to eat cats, he will leave cats to eat oysters, he will leave oysters to eat ham, he will leave ham to eat sugar, he will leave sugar to eat pie, he will leave pie to eat potatoes, he will leave potatoes to eat bran; he will leave bran to eat hay, he will leave hay to eat oats, he will leave oats to eat rice, for he was mainly raised on it. There is nothing whatever that he will not eat but European butter, and he would eat that if he could taste it.”

Continue tomorrow. Much to talk on that story. Damn, I hate such niceties, but thank you for the relevant citation on ‘Jamsetjejeebhoy Jumbo’ and pointing me to that vintage story. Enjoyed it!

In that collection of Gutenberg Project books, many of them are read, and transcribed using some manner of voice-to-word conversion. Often you'd see a few weird, but similar sounding words come up. For example, "recoup" in the following sentence...

It was necessary to remain awhile in order to recruit the animal's health before resuming the voyage.

You know, you outperform your amulet charm each time. You know, I thought the Goodness Gracious Me reference was so fitting that you possibly could not come with another of such pertinent material (too spot-on). You know, Jumbo was just perfect citation in that given context. And 'you know' is seemingly fashionable back then.

"You know in what reverence the royal white elephant of Siam is held by the people of that country. You know it is sacred to kings, only kings may possess it, and that it is, indeed, in a measure even superior to kings, since" from "The Stolen White Elephant" by Mark Twain

Wasn't that accidentally imaginative for the potato- and pie-eating narrative of Jumbo to 'recruit' his health rather than 'recoup' from indisposition. Twain and his mastery to draft ironic laugh could well have been purposely 'recruit'. What say?

On a tangent, our footloose banter here resembles another story of Mark Twain, that is, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County that ends in a dismissive gesture,

At the door I met the sociable Wheeler returning, and he button- holed me and recommenced:
"Well, thish-yer Smiley had a yeller one-eyed cow that didn't have no tail, only jest a short stump like a bannanner, and " "Oh! hang Smiley and his afflicted cow!" I muttered, good-naturedly, and bidding the old gentleman good-day, I departed.

You inaugurate with an elephant while I interchanged with a frog. What does the Calaveras frog have to do with the Jamsetjejeebehoy elephant? That's our free-spirited banter.
