We all chose usernames — some of us more wisely than others — when we signed up in IL. But how do you like to be addressed in posts? Do you like to be tagged each time? as in @yourusername? Do you prefer an honorific added to your username? Like Ma'am, Sir, Ji, etc? Do you prefer to be addressed by your real life name? Are you okay with your name being abbreviated? with affection, of course. .
I'll answer to almost anything. No honorifics necessary. Abbreviations are fine. I like to be tagged so I get an alert and don't miss the post. .
some of us more wisely minns? Tagging has its usefulness but, call me behind the technological times ... @... reminds me of the movie name Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho. If the addresser deems that I have earned it through means beyond calendar years. Yeah.. whatever.. : ) But if my username was Amica, I'd prefer not abbreviation but elongating it to Amicable. : ) Nice thread.. recently I was thinking of starting one about if you could change username what you'd pick. I'd pick shubhchintak. : )
the most recent addressing had That is nice. Pink Floyd had a song called "hey you.." The writer's preferences comes through in the address. I should leave it at that. Short usernames are easier to spell ( Ouroboros' name was mentioned recently). About affectionate mangling of names, I am reminded of this skit:
I like to be tagged already ilites call me vijima, which I like.dont like when someone calls me madam
I like it when i am called Nandu or Nandini and yes i like being tagged, so i will get an alert and wont miss out on anything.... When i am comfortable in communicating with few people here in IL, i have given my own pet names to them... Amics, geets, budding chef(shravs), archu putta
