Oh what a month that was! The floods in Kerala brought untold misery to tens of thousands of people. Houses lost, damaged, property lost, homeless ..... It does not bear thinking about. What stands out, though, is the resilience of the people who survived the trauma and the thousands who went out of their way risking life and limb to help those in distress. This is what being human is all about.

The flood waters have receded, but it will still take time for life to come back to normal. For all those people and for all of us too, I can only say:

    "Everything wrong gonna be alright
    Come September"

Coming back to our little world of IL, the flood of nominations has been a real source of delight. It is wonderful to have so many lovely posts/threads to read (even if I am guilty of not being very prompt ..... for which I hope I have the forgiveness of my fellow ILites). This is one flood I hope will never recede but only build up constantly!

So here's wishing all of you a very happy month ahead, what with Ganesh Chathurthi round the corner. May Ganesha bring us lots of blessings, not to forget plenty of modaks!!!

And you my friends, continue to flood the forum with nominations.

    Ganpati Bappa Morya!

My first nomination for the month is this post by @msms
Miracles Do Happen, If You Believe, Hope For My Ttc Friends

In such a short narration, msms has so wholesomely captured the entire journey. Hope, struggle, persistence, faith, grace and the eventual gentle triumph are so neatly phrased from-the-heart and presented. There is nothing like hope that comes from those who have experienced the journey.

Thanks a ton Rihana for the 'boni'. :) In a world full of woes and struggles, it is indeed heartening to read a happy ending once in a way. I can very well imagine the pangs the OP and many other ladies in the TTC forum must go through. Keeping up one's hope under such trying circumstances can be very difficult indeed and OP has managed to do that and has tried to pass on that feeling of hope to others. Kudos to her. Wishing her little fella all the very best in life.

If I have turned a thief, Lord Ganesha has to take the blame. With the alarming fluctuations in my Sugar level, my wife stands guard in front of the kitchen to make sure that I don't stuff my mouth with Kozhakattai (a sweet dish that Genesha is very fond of)
I am just writing this to request you to think of me when you lump this classic sweet!

No worries, Cheeniya sir. I don't make or buy any kozhakattai as there is no one at home to share them with. I stopped celebrating any festival after Amma left. So even if the reasons are different, I am in the same boat as you - no kozhkattais! :)

    My dear Anna

I will think.of you when I have Kozhakattais. Yesterday I made cheedais and they turned out well. Since I am having dry cough and some of my teeth have gone on both sides the part of cheedais oranything I have gets stuck and my tongue never leaves me till I take it out.

    Dear Cheeniya Sir,

Please read "Minnal, Mazhai, Mohini" written by Jawar Sitaraman to understand how you can watch people happily eating Kozhakkatai.

    Dear Satchi,

Making a globe out of dough in a quick hand movement, using fingers to make a circle out of though, keeping the Poornam (Jaggery, coconut mix) right in the middle of that dough, covering them with the circular dough with the projected edge and boiling them in a cooker is an extraordinary experience leave alone eating it.

My dad died on Ganesh Chathurthi day in 1987 and since then we are not celebrating the festival at home but do Abhisegham at the Temple. But we do Kozhakkatai on another day and eat. :)

    Viswa
