    @Laks09 09 thanks to the other thread i now own ilkal, narayanpet and bomkai and looking at dhakai jamdani..lol..for someone who has to tie a bely for the saree to stay..i keep looking too..

    A muga silk is tempting subtle one but the cost at 65k really is scary..hardly will wear for a couple of times. Sigh..

    OP - There are these AKKA(Kannada sangha) and TANA(Telugu Assoc) huge events that happen around town here. Big saree stores often have stalls and sarees sell like hot cakes. Deepam kanchipurams are my favorite and a reminder of Bangalore days. I attend these events to shop! They do have good quality stuff. Check if something is coming up in your area.

    I know, my sis recently got a saree for 50K and my eyes popped. Looks like it's the norm these days. Even if all three of us wear it once it doesn't make sense to pay that price..

    I'm not sure, I didn't ask. They have a blouse studio for mixing and matching prints but no clue about stitching. They have a chat window that opens up on the website and they are pretty happy to answer questions. They might be willing to accommodate special requests.

    I agree they are quite pricey but the sarees are exquisite! Though definitely not for everyday occasions. My excuse was a once in a lifetime event. :innocent: There are a couple of others I had looked at,

    Tilfi: Luxurious, handloom only clothing from the heart of Banaras for banarasi sarees
    parisera.com They carry nearly every major type of weave

    Just want to clarify that my comment about cost was not indirectly pointing at you. Please don’t mistake me. You have given me tons of leads and pointers. And I am very grateful for that.
    Definitely, the sarees are amazing. Just that I have not seen such prices before. I have been out of India for a while now and naively associated prices to still be around what it was 20 years ago. Which is stupid of me.

    Exactly. Where I live even a 6k sari would look exotic and I would wear it maybe 6 times in a decade so just making do with what sarees we already have for the occasional functions. Actually this is what led to my and my cousins original problem. We just made do and never had occasion to buy regularly and now completely out of touch when occasion finally presents itself.
