    #TechTuesday!

Lol. I'm watching #Blockchain technology for personal (learning) project and thought to add here articles that discuss/suggest alternate usage scenarios than cryptocurrencies, that we read about more often. Hope it's okay. :innocent:

    #BlockchainBeyondBitcoin! #3

How do we prevent failures in A.I. such as Microsoft’s offensive chatbot and Tesla’s autopilot car crash?

The key to AI performance is the quality and content of the algorithm’s training data. Where Tay went off the rails was by adapting to the conversations it had with real, online users. Those users quickly realized that Tay was mimicking some of their own conversational ticks, and those users decided to amuse themselves by coaching Tay into using offensive language.

Blockchain’s "distributed ledger" technology can help keep secure public records of AI training data sets and core algorithms used, with options to track and monitor changes being made in real time, assuring that algorithms cannot be trained by unauthorized personals or without proper licensures. This transparency nature of blockchain ledger system allows A.I. developers to share their work data among peers and competitors, without attribution concerns or illicit code usage fears encouraging a more collaborative AI development environment. Hurdles in real-world adoption of AI algorithms can also be handled favorably without flops. Cool.

How blockchain can save AI from itself!

I have my future all mapped out. Except for the occasional haunting, I'm planning on remaining dead a long time. Looks like I will have excellent company. I'm so happy.

I like it, I'm not gonna crack; I miss you, I'm not gonna crack; I love you, I'm not gonna crack; I killed you, I'm not gonna crack ... yeaaaahyeaahyea. Maybe we could have a few 3D-printed for all you people who're planning on staying.:hmmm:

:hello:if pain and emotion can be transferred from donor to done, then the following simulation news from China is a precursor.
Men taste of pain of child birth

Hospital in china gives men taste of pain of child birth. song silng trying a baby with his girl friend shut his eyes and grimaced as the needle on the electrode monitor inched forward with a beep. It felt like my heart and lungs were being ripped apart who made it to level 7 on a scale 0 to 10. The simulations could never match the torment of actual childbirth. (jinan- in china reported by Reuters published in the Hindu dt 22nov 2014 sat.)T
    Thanks and regards.

    God Bless.

Admittedly I am a blockchain noob. I have been hoarding articles on blockchain that Feedly throws at me by the dozens every day, with the intention of reading them someday. You know what they say about intentions and the path to hell. Well thanks to your series I finally got around to reading some of them. So thank you!

What do I think of it? I don't know if it can be called a ground breaking technology yet. It is a data structure that allows you to create a timeline of verifiable and immutable transactions built on consensus. How much of that promise is a product of the hype machine we'll have to wait and see. It's still early days and the idea of decentralized trust can be quite powerful in many domains. I do think that the mad race to find blockchain based solutions to every problem under the sun is a case of developers finding a shiny new hammer and looking for nails to use it on. I think we're going to see Amara's law play out in this case.

"We tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run and underestimate the effect in the long run."

    Gartner_Hype_Cycle.svg.png

In the "Hype Cycle" (above) we're currently at the peak of inflated expectations from blockchain! Eventually we will see some great applications but they won't be nearly as groundbreaking and universal as the media would have you believe. Then there is the issue of emergent phenomenon. Blockchain implemented on a large scale will bring a new set of problems that we can't predict right now; that will set up the search for another shiny new hammer and so on and so forth! : )

Oh bummer! :( Visiting the Avenue of the Baobabs in Madagascar has been on my travel bucket list forever. They're just so weird and alien, and beautiful of course. The article was not very conclusive about the cause of these deaths. Let's hope this is an anomaly that can be reversed.

Lithium, Dr S? All well with you I hope.

    #BlockchainBeyondBitcoins #4

    #Digitalization #Global_Trade_Future

    (attaching for my references)
Case Study: Maersk's container shipping application, a real-world solution established to digitalize supply chain management, using (IBM) blockchain technology.

    Here is my understanding.

Current manual supply chain systems are complex and very opaque. This lack of transparency and inaccuracies in paper-based transaction sessions often causes illicit trade practices within the supply chain ecosystem.

To bring together every actor involved in the international supply chain network, to ensure secure paperless transactions, real-time tracking and information sharing, end to an end transparency and interoperability across borders and trading zones, IBM has built a new global trading digitized platform using blockchain technology's open standards.

As mentioned in #3, 'distributed ledger' technology is used here, to record all transaction data within a trade network and to allow secure, real-time data sharing between involved parties with trusted access permissions. Companies can now track goods digitally and multiple trade partners can collaborate across borders, without compromising privacy.

By digitalizing international trade using Blockchain technology, businesses have achieved significant reductions in overall transaction overheads, turn around time, logistics costs and are able to improve the efficiency of the entire supply chain system and in turn, increase global trade profits.

"Manufacturers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, port and terminal operators and customs authorities can all benefit from these new technologies –and ultimately consumers."
    - Maersk Digitized Supply Chains.

Similiar blockchain supply chain deployments within the international trade industry include Korea’s shipping industry, Amsterdam Rotterdam port, Australia’s Port of Brisbane and the latest entrant Abu Dhabi ports.

More businesses favoring the choice to implement digitalized supply chain platforms stands as an important proof for onward successes of Blockchain technology and its influence on digital economy transformations 2.0 (quoted thoughts), I believe.

To breakthroughs that help break barriers. :beer-toast1:

I do not have the rightful insights yet to answer you. And that's why the exploration too, to find substantial use cases that will demonstrate both success and failures of Blockchain so I can understand and make up my mind if it's a promising technology or just a hype.

Too soon to agree or disagree with you in depth. I will add more thoughts along the way as I try to learn. As a tech enthusiast, I feel problems are okay to arise as it's what allows for new thoughts, ideas, theories, research, inventions and innovations to happen. Solutions create problems, problems inspire solutions, a needed cycle for transformations or curiosity dies rotten. We could have frozen in the cold, but fire happened! ;) Thus we evolved!

    #WTH_Wednesday

You guys read this? "Thermophic" robots? o_O

    A4DD0243-D2D4-41F4-BE6D-75E2399779E0.jpeg

..."carries the shape and the identity of a supernatural creature or object within a religion" -- robots that imply "a connection with a deity, be[ing] a messenger of the deity, or be[ing] possessed by it, or carry[ing] a divine essence."

...Recognized as a protector, supposedly having superior cognitive and perceptual capabilities.

...Held in high regard, in the same way a sacred object is treated with higher regard than a common object.

Can a Robot Be Divine?? :rolleye:

Check out the guidelines to make such robots! Some favourites...

-Don’t try to impersonate the divine.

    -Don’t call it a robot.

-Use symbology. This can involve putting symbols on the robot itself, or more abstract symbolism, like having the robot blessed...

    - Minimize user control. Deities don’t generally respond to direct inputs, and giving too much control to the user could make suspension of disbelief more difficult.

-Use light. Since the robot shouldn’t move all that much and the user interface is limited, consider communicating with light...

One rule that did make sense to me...

"Context is important. Keep in mind how the robot is intended to be used, or where it will be deployed."

Lol. Hmm. Maybe I don't understand but some researchers believe this concept will have useful applications.

So tell me, if robots did take over, we will be forced to convert, and non believers practice faith and religion? Do robots gets to choose too, what religion they can or not follow?! :grinning:

The article was poorly written, I agree. Even with space limitations, any thoughtful journalist might have added a line or two about why the scientists think what they do. However, I suspect that the investigators really do know what they know.
    Not to mentions the Sifakas!
    Just cranky!

    #Electricity(R)Evolution!

Digital measurement and management of electricity! :hearteyecat:

Lol. Vox media takes you through the technology elaborately, and from word A to word Z every detail feels awesome! :grinning:

In a nutshell, there are losses in the electricity grid throughout - in generation, transmission, and consumption. Some amount of the loss can be recovered, esp at the consumption end. Previously data was not available but now 3DFS has a new technology that can measure 26 parameters and the AI can predict the load supply required depending on the needs of the electrical device that's to consume the power.

Important Breakthrough: their technology can monitor and measure digitally, continuously and in real time!

"It can not only track what’s happening on the electricity sine wave from nanosecond to nanosecond, it can correct the sine wave from microsecond to microsecond, perfectly adapting it to the load it serves eliminating waste across the grid."

"This effectively doubles the energy efficiency of the electricity system, getting twice the energy out of the same amount of generation, boosting the performance of every electrical device (including storage, like batteries) in every environment, and reducing consumption and waste heat. Infrastructure costs reduce too."

They have tested the technology in Data centers and Ships.

    Screenshot_2018-06-13-08-15-53-282_org.mozilla.firefox~01.png

With a fully established system, this could be improved to 35%! :clap2:

"Recovering some or most of the lost electricity on the grid would amount to finding a huge new source of zero-carbon power — a powerful resource in the fight against climate change too."

    Screenshot_2018-06-13-08-18-15-537_org.mozilla.firefox~01~01.png

"A nearly lossless electricity system"... Impressive! :sunglasses:

Not to miss their comments about how capitalists always try to suppress innovations that are disruptions to their business, yes of course. 3DFS is determined, no matter what! Bravo! :wink1:

    Screenshot_2018-06-13-00-14-18-011_org.mozilla.firefox~01.png

    Lol. I'm excited too!

This technology could fundamentally change our relationship to electricity!
