    Hi All!
I have been wondering when would be the right time to seek medical help for those who are in TTC. I looked up in internet and found that it could take up to one year for healthy couples to conceive. So, does everyone wait for at least an year to go to doctor? Will the doctor send you back otherwise? Or is it more based on the age of the women?
I am in early 30s and DH in mid 30s. We've been in ttc for the past 4 months and nothing happened yet. I am nervous to wait for one year considering our age. Should we first go to a general practice doctor or to a reproductive endocrinologist? What would be the basic tests to start with?
Sorry for many questions. I am really confused. While I want to get at least some basics check-ups done now, DH doesn't want to. He says we should wait and see.

You can go to your ob-gyn and see what they say. Your husband can also get tested if he hasn't already. 4 months is not at all long though.

Yes you can check with gyn to run some basic test like thyroid, sugar. Meanwhile you can study ur cycle to know when u r ovulating. U can ask for folic acid tab too. Low carb high protein with good cholesterol would help u prepare ur body. Start mild exercise or work out to keep metabolism good. All these tips will work only if ur mind is free of stress and tension on implementing these tips or from trying. So do keep yourself relaxed. My wishes to u.

    Hi @Sandhya13

Do not worry ..4 months is not long at all.But I know how worrying it can be during the ttc period.I was in your shoes 3 years back.so I just want to list out a few things that worked for me.

1)start with charting your cycle. This involves taking your BBT(basal body temp) first thing in the morning.this will give you an idea on the days you ovulate .i did it for 3 months to get to know my cycle.

2)You can try using ovulation sticks. So I did not use it but you can use them to get to know your ovulation days in advance as BBT will only tell you the ovulation day after you have ovulated.

3)Take folic Acid and try to cut out excess sugar and maida from your diet.

4)I used to go for Zumba classes.they were really fun.helped me lose some weight and also took my mind off ttc.

5)Do not stress-I know this is easier said than done but try not to think about this day and night.Sometimes keeping your mind stress free works wonders.

I have a 20 month old son now and planning to follow these again before we start trying for our second child.:)

    Hi Sandhya13,
It is important that your intercourse coincides with the days of your ovulation for fertilization to happen. Usually doctors insist on intercourse on Day 10 through Day 18 of the cycle. So, as some other lovely ladies have suggested, you need to know your ovulation cycle. Ovulation kits are the easiest means to do this.
Usually doctors ask couples to try for at least an year before they start investigating infertility issues, so four months is not a long time.
The age of the couple can be crucial, but the health of the couple is more crucial. So be healthy, stress free and try.
Just to manage your stress and for reassurance, you can be in touch with a gynaecologist.

    All the best!

Thank you @magicwand007 so much for your tips!
It is a really good idea to track ovulation and basal temperature. I am going to start with this.
BTW, I have a 3yr old boy and this is for my second one. I had 2 chemical pregnancies before my boy. I got a little worried since all those 3 times I got pregnant right away. But I was in my 20s then and now in early 30s. I will try to be stress free. Hopefully it will work.
My best wishes and Good luck to you!

Thank you for your wishes! I am going to start with tracking my ovulation. If it doesn't work out, then I am planning to see a doctor just to rule out any underlying issues. See, if it wasn't for my age I probably would have been less worried.
