:hello:When one relies on Christ -Read God- or not must be irrelevant to God. He would remain perhaps duty bound to save all species including humanity.

    2. When something is created, The Creator Is bound to protect, preserve and defend. When something beyond human power it is termed as Act of God.......why?

    3. Undersea nuclear bomb testing secretly or clandestine manner by one country can cause tsunami, volcano eruptions, earth sea quakes on other part of the globe. cataclysm we heard in biblical times. Relying on God has nothing to do with natural disasters which might cause elimination of huge mass of people. Perhaps this is God’s way of balancing Nature, the geography and geology of globe.

    4. God can not be demonstrating trying to impress with his constructive or destructive power the species created by Him. God must always be busy planning and implementing overall good for the universe. Why One should think that HE is there to protect only the humans both evil and good ones. In Noha’s Arc, he desired every specimen of all species to be taken out and protected from the great deluge.

    Regards.
    God Bless Us All Always.

A lack of morals undoubtedly, but not necessarily declining - both Kamsa and Herod dealt with threatening newborns in the same fashion didn't they? A case for quite the reverse has been made recently by Steven Pinker: The Better Angels of Our Nature.

I used to struggle with this question often. Especially when hearing of very heinous crimes like the Delhi gang rape case, the holocaust ,practices like fgm etc.. Recently on a long flight I was reading two books and I sort of had a eureka moment where I got a partial if not full answer to this question. The books are memoirs written by two men who are survivors of the 1973 andes plane crash . So this group of 40 people were on the way from Uruguay in South America to watch a rugby match in Chile. Their plane crashed in the Andes mountain range and half of them died. The remaining half were left stranded in the high altitude of the mountain range in freezing temperatures with no proper clothing , no food. Rescue efforts were called off after 10 days when authorities couldn't find the plane.

The conditions in which the survivors lived were extremely challenging . After 70 odd days of barely surviving , Two of these men decided to trek the mountains to find help. The odds of them making it through were literally zero, even experienced mountain climbers with the right gear and proper food and in good physical health found this trek difficult . Both the books are about this journey where faith is the only thing these men have.Obviously when they are in deep suffering they start to question god and his ways. But in the end of the journey when they finally manage to make it home , one of them summarizes that god doesn't care about our comfort as much as he cares about the growth of our soul. And this soul growth happens only when we are in difficult circumstances.

Its when we are at our darkest phase that we are closest to god. Suffering exists for our soul growth and when our soul starts to realize its true self, suffering on this physical plane ceases to matter.

The (backseat) bill gates lent his micro-support to the book back then.

I prefer to believe that we are living in the best of our times just because of Stevie Smith’s threatening quip:

“People who are always praising the past and especially the time of faith as best ought to go and live in the Middle Ages and be burnt at the stake as witches and sages.”

Why do one chose to do bad karma if good karma exists?

Its own true self, plus that of a few others - with a little aid from cannibalism?
I'm guessing your flight landed safely before you finished the book. This is a very famous story; funny, the differing details that stick in our minds!:roflmao:

Many times our personal interest in the ratiocination of evil in the world resembles the XY-problem.

Usually, when someone asks me ..why evil exists, I inquire back, what are you grappling with, the dispassionate existence of evil or your survival amidst it because they are strivings of not different degree but of different form. Invariably many confess to the ambition of the latter over mediation on the former.

Along with Wiesel, the old chestnut Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl ranks high in my list to surmount the ethical crisis of living in an unreasonable world plagued by iniquities. He who has a why to live can bear almost any how - Friedrich Nietzsche. An instance of an unyielding XY pursuit of how rather than why in chasing evil?

    Algebra? Again? Ai, ai, ai.
Old chestnut -> a joke or story that has become tedious because of its age and constant repetition (Oxford dictionary).
If it truly ranks high on your list, perhaps that's not quite the phrase you are looking for?
Elie Wiesel 'bore his how' and emerged in deep torment needing time to find his why ...

'Old chestnut' has a wonky adaptation in 'corporate' jargon to denote references that though are relevant are too trite. As in, my citation is very abecedarian for the wandering scholar in you with a drift of tease that may or may not compromise the syntax and semantics of the proverbial and Bodleian usages of cross-jumping idioms. Nudge Nudge Wink Wink!

Why not? Milton's Paradise Lost shifted the theodical paradigm with mathematical conjectures from complex numbers to Fibonacci series to enunciate Evil. Here, I was only flirting with algebra. Hah! Before Carroll, Milton blazed!
