    Shravs,

Callus forms due to friction / pressure/ rubbing. It definitely is because of your shoes. You will have to look on buying some shoes which has good clearance in the front for your toe.Completely avoid wearing the current one.

I have heard an elderly relative suggest dipping foot in warm water with rock salt n applying some turmeric. You can google and find home remedies online n try them n check.

shoes are the culprit and sometimes it also depends on our toe spread. i have issues with good fit regular shoes. and then i discovered i needed relaxed fit or wide fit shoes that accomodated and allows the pinky toe to stay relaxed. maybe it is the same with you.

to heal the callus. soak in a nice warm water that has salt added. file it gently with a nail buffer or something soft abrasive. with a regular soak and cleaning and applying good moisturiser like say glysolid it will recover to normal.

I might be late to thread But this is fungus infection - "athletes foot" . there are different kinds and you need to take anti fungal ointment.
For me, once it has started, it never goes away permanently and keeps coming back.
It happens when you wear wet/moist socks or shoes for long time could be because of sweat. I know because I suffer from it a lot and from 1 pink toe of 1 foot it has spread to both feet.
For me, it comes and goes and heat or dirty feet worsens it. It started when I started going to treadmill wearing almost same sock shoes everyday because I was not able to find socks.
I have noticed I have some shoes (fabric sketcher) that I wear and I immediately get it. So I recently washed those issues with baking shoes+ vinegar . If not, I will toss them away. Then I always get it triggered in India, no matter what weather there.
I have couple anti-fungal cremes. I have to apply those 2-3 days in row and it goes away.

Btw, before that, I tried everything, mustard need boroline. nothing helped. its fungus infection and also, not all anti fungals can fix the issue. One I tried first was mild/cheaper one. It worked in the beginning. Then, I bought most expensive OTC (Lotrimin).

Thanks for the reply @sanjuruby3 .
Wat I noticed was only if I wear a particular shoe ,which is little narrower at toes and if I walk a lot wearing it, I feel some pain and I get it .So I stopped wearing it.
And I applied a cream called Aquaphor . Within 2 days it reduced completely !

Great. Well Aquaphor is staple in our home but never worked for me. When on India visit, people suggested boroline, that also did not work. For me also it is one specific walking shoes that started all this.

Apply castor oil to the new shoes (especially on the rough edges which might hurt the feet) couple of days after it dries up ,start using the shoes..
