Some days (especially when chilly), I wish to wrap my head in a beautiful, flannel, plaid scarf.

Problem is there is negative connotation with head covering in USA. Media shows that is oppresses women, plus how Muslims are depicted after 9/11.

I think if you dress it up, head covering makes a woman look more beautiful, elegant, innocent, feminine.

    What do you think?

Yes. But on the other side, if u uncover it, that personality also depicts a woman to show as strongly emerging, beautiful and intellectual with full of confidence. This is my opinion. :)

What about a lady who wears shawl/stole around shoulders. I do that durichilly seasons, I wonder how it would be in spring/summer seasons?

Giving something a negative tag n trying to stop us from doing it itself is a form of oppression according to me.

Stopping a woman to wear a scarf is the same as stopping a woman from wearing a bikini. Wearing a burkha or a bikini, it should be our freewill to wear whatever we want without worrying about "tags".

Regardless of covered or uncovered, a woman can exude her power n confidence in anything if she wants.

Why not wear a woolen hat?

CE, you are every traditional MIL's dream. I remember smart Marwari Dil's in my Building who had a big issue with their MILs wanting them to keep the pallu on their heads & were always trying to rebel. And here you wish to do it but are constrained by past incidents in US. Oh the irony of life!

Do whatever makes you happy instead of worrying about what others will think. Some look so fashionable in it . Depends on which state you live but overall US is very welcoming and open to people of all races, Muslims or not . If women can openly wear booty shorts then what’s the big deal about head scarves ?
FYI - Macy’s is partnering with Verona and soon launching a line for hijab , head scarves and abayas . I think they will be available on their website around the 15th . Enjoy shopping !

Not just muslim ladies , many others too wear head covering . In india , we see ghunghat , pallu over head , Kodagu ladies tie a scarf on head , himachal pradeshis wear caps . In some african countries, women wear turban like head covering . Christian nuns cover their head . So there should be no big fuss about only muslim head covers .
And ladies should not have to be scared whether they will be mistaken if they wear this or that kind of coverings.

When there is freedom to show most of the skin in the name of Chic there should be freedom to cover head to toe too !

Woolen hat will squish my hair. Scarf is easy to put on and removed.
Air can be styled in different ways.

Me, a traditional MILs dream? I thought I'd give them a run for their money
