    I have served my today’s lunch with
    Rice topped with ghee
    Mulangi( radish) sambhar
    Cabbage, beans and peas palya
    Alu and capsicum palya
    Lemon rasam
    Flaxseed and sesame raita
    Curd rice
    Masala buttermilk

    Mulangi sambhar
    Ingredients

    1 radish( medium sized) peeled, washed and chopped into circles.
    1 tomato
    1 onion
    2 green chilly
    1/2 cup tamarind juice
    1/2 cup cooked toor dhal
    1/2 tsp haldi
    4tsp sambhar powder
    Salt as per taste

    To temper
    1 tsp ghee
    1/2 tsp each mustard seeds, methi seeds,hing
    Few curry leaf

    Method
    Wash and pressure cook toor dhal with haldi, mash set aside.
    Heat a pan and temper the things in the order given, now add onion, tomato mulangi pieces and green chilly.
    Saute for 3-5 mins, add tamarind juice, and allow to boil for 3-4 mins or until raw smell goes.
    Now add cooked dhal, salt and sambhar powder and a glass of water.
    Close and cook for
    4-5 mins or until the veggies are done.
    Serve with rice.

    Cabbage beans and peas palya
    Ingredients

    1/2 cup cabbage shredded
    10-12 french beans washed and cut
    1/2 cup green peas
    1tsp oil
    1/2 tsp each mustard,chana dhal, urad dhal, cumin seeds and hing
    Few curry leaf
    1/4 tsp turmeric
    Salt as per taste.
    5-6 tsp fresh grated coconut

    Method
    Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, now add chana dhal, urad dhal and fry until golden brown, next add cumin seeds, hing and curry leaf.
    Next goes cabbage, beans, and peas.
    Followed by turmeric, salt and sprinkle some water and close cook for 5-8 mins.
    Finally add coconut and mix well.

    Alu capsicum palya
    2 potatoes washed and cut into medium pieces
    2 capsicum
    1 each onion and tomato
    1 tsp each red chilly powder, dhanya powder and garam masala powder
    1/2 tsp curd
    1/2 tsp kasuri methi
    1 tsp oil
    1/2 tsp cumin seeds

    Method
    Heat oil in a pan splutter cumin seeds now add onion, alu, Capsicum and tomato and saute, close and cook for 5 mins, add salt and mix well.
    In a small bowl mix the spice powders with curd and kasuri methi without any lumps and slowly add to the veggies pan and mix well.
    Keep the flame on low to medium after adding the curd mixture.
    Palya is done after 6-8 mins.


    Lemon rasam
    Ingredients

    1 cup toor dhal cooked water
    1 tomato
    1 tsp coarsely ground jeera and pepper
    1 small lemon
    salt as per taste
    1/2 tsp ghee
    1/2 tsp mustard
    Few coriander leaf.

    Method
    In a vessel add toor dhal cooked water, tomato pieces, salt and jeera pepper powder.
    Switch off when it turns frothy.
    Season with ghee and mustard.
    Remove from the flame and mix lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaf.

    Flaxseed and sesame raita
    Ingredients

    1 cup beaten curd
    1 each onion and tomato
    2 tsp flaxseed roasted
    2 tsp sesame seeds
    Salt and chaat masala as per taste.

    Method
    Mix the above ingredients and serve chill.

    When I go out, I love to order south indian thalis . I don't eat all that rice but the sambar, rasam and sabzis I devour it.This is so tempting Nandu. Feel like having one right now! And that small mud cups with buttermilk are so cute
