These days people have Buddha images statues everywhere around. I always wondered why leave Buddha statue in lawns or in front of the house siting in meditation pose in rain or sunshine or cold weather. And now the latest craze in India is Buddha images on sarees, kurti's etc.Oh yes Kalamkari ... Diwali trend. Why do we need an enlightened being's image on a saree or kurti or blouse and wear it ? Why would someone come up with such an idea of printing Buddha's images on clothes people wear (of course not ascetics). Somehow the idea seems to be so weird . Why should we encourage such clothing in India?
It is amazing that you thought about Buddha statues outside in open. It might seem like people didn’t care. At the same time shiv lingas that are formed by itself (Suyambu) are largely outside. I think it is ok. But if people wanted those statues for decoration that is not ok with me. Similarly the printing of Buddha images must be liked by people who doesn’t consider or don’t know that Buddha as a enlightened being. I can only think of such people as ignorant. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
