    REWRITING HISTORY

Tourism Department of Government of Uttar Pradesh has removed Taj Mahal as a tourist destination of Uttar Pradesh. This is one of the many attempts to erase and rewrite history. Congratulations.

Changing of roads happened in the past also but changing names of Baazars ? Changing of Institutions happened in the past also but changing names of historical monument? We are for grand changing after 2014 BJP taking over at the center. Yogi Addityanath , U P Chief Minister is going one step further. Soon Mughalsarai may have another name. Not sure what will happen to Lucknow, Allahabad. The process is on.

There are some Mughal and British time monuments and Institutions. Victoria Memorial Hall Kolkata, Gate of India Mumbai, Aligarh University Aligarh, India Gate and Kutub Minar in Delhi, to name a few. May be that too is on the agenda.

Same thing is happening in the USA, bringing down the statues of civil war period. That sounds feasible because these statues can be shifted to museums. Museums are temples of learning. But what about monuments? Can they be shifted to museums? Or will they be demolished like Babri Masjid? We cannot and should not forget history but we cannot reverse it. We can only learn from it. Remembering is not respecting or reverting, just learning for future.

There are better things to do for which a government is elected. A government is not elected for renaming roads, bazaars, institutions. A government is not elected to demolish historical minuments. Past atrocities can not be reason for present vendetta.

40 million people in 165 countries are trapped in multibillion dollar modern slave industry. Freedom, economic equality and social justice are the issues of the day. One of these countries is India. These are the issues.

May be you have no clue to solve such issues. Enjoy your time and retire with grace.

    Governments should be solving them.

    Dear Hariji,
You have presented the trending scenario precisely.
The above mentioned changeof names is not on election manifesto!!!! None of the things in election manifesto are done or even attempted.
Country has may problems. Should they not be taken care of those things?

    Dear Hariji,

What is the new name for Taj Mahal? It is unfortunate that the Indian government thinks that changing names will reverse the history the country experienced.

If slavery existed in the US several decades ago, there is nothing anyone can do to reverse the history. Only thing that the government can do is not to promote or talk about the importance of such monuments. Hariji, the present environment in the US has emboldened many to bring back the talk about the superiority of one of the race making others as push overs. The Universities are targeted to change the young minds. The US has become a nation of multi-ethnicity long time ago and it is difficult to reverse it. Only thing the government can do is to control the immigration going forward.

Retreat with grace? They are here to enjoy the loaves and fishes of office and do you think they will withdrw with grace? They have such important tasks to complete. like renaming Delhi as Indraprastha, Allahbad as Prayag, Lucknow as Lakshmanpuri and the Taj as Tejo Mahalaya They are more pressing than Freedom , economy and social justice.

    Dear Cheeniya,
In north we will find more action because this part is the seat of Central Government in Delhi. Most of the neighboring states are also governed by the same party. It's a deadly cocktail.

    Syamalaji,
Politics is a nasty game. Here immediate benefits are more important. Moreover public memory is too short. We Indians are used to living in poverty as long as our Gods are well fed. Same applies to our religious beliefs, communal bias and racial preference.

    Dear Viswa,
I read some BJP leader suggesting that Taj Mahal in fact was known as Tejo Mahal and it was a temple built by Hindus for Hindus. It so happens that, say a after 100, years of its renaming and deleting all references of Taj Mahal, the generation of that day will start believing it. This is what they believe. One day they may say New Delhi was built by some Indian and not by Leutyn.
USA is reeling under similar mental bankruptcy. It is rather impossible, but just give a thought. If some day in some very remote future those Red Indians come in power and try to demolish everything the migrates built, what will happen. We were under Moghal rule for over 600 years and under British Rule for 300 years. We have already started demolishing what they built.
True they were invaders, and exploited us and that can never never be forgotten but that's history. Keep it in the museums for learning and remembering. But the monuments can't be be put in museums.
There are better things to do.

    Dear Hari,
What is in a name, they will say. They can only change the name of Tajmalal to Tejo Mahal, but not the structure.
Even in the states also when a political party comes to rule they even want to change the name of the state. Mamta Banerjee changed the name of the state from West Bengal to Bangla by voice vote in the assembly.
In many states even the streets names are changed. They can only change the names, but can't change History.

    Dear PS,
Very correct. The British came to Calcutta which remained the capital for quite some decades before it was shifted to Delhi. Many of the roads had English names. even though the names have changed but people still call it by old names. Same in Delhi.
There are talks of changing the history itself, which as you say, can not be changed. We can only learn from history.
History is written by the victors as is the saying and true. Now that the power has changed hands, they will rewrite it as new victors.
