Chapter-32


Priya was not in mood to go back to her house and went to her parent’s house instead. She spent couple of hours there. Once her mom was away in kitchen work her father asked,


‘Is there any problem between you and Jai?’

‘Errr. How did you know?’ Priya was surprised.


‘It’s written all over your face. Ever since your marriage you haven’t spent more than half an hour here. Today you have no inclination to get back your martial home. What happened? Is that Jai forgot your anniversary or something? ‘ her father chided.


‘No,I don’t expect him to remember it. It’s a different issue dad…’ Priya hesitated on telling this to her father but her heart was very heavy and she decided to open up to him.


Her dad listened to her patiently ‘Don’t you trust your Jai. I thought you and Jai are beyond all this.’


‘He himself admitted that he was involved with her…’ she reminded.


‘These all are not the issues you talk over phone. Talk to him in person; ask him clearly what he means. Jai is gem of a person and I’m sure there is a better explanation for this.Don’t conclude anything now.’


‘He is in a business trip dad….’


‘Wait till he comes back and clear it out Priya. Remember he hates infidelity as his life was ruined because of it. Be patient for few days.’


But Priya couldn’t think of anything else when she reached home. She was not interested in talking to the boys so she just kept to herself in the room. Jai doesn’t update her much when he is travelling it and it annoyed her. Her mind went on thinking about several things. Her strong point in life was Jai and future with him appeared bleak now. Something changed her life in matter of hours.


Her bakery demanded lot of time next day and she forgot her problems while working on it. It was post noon when she received the call in her line in bakery.


‘What happened to your phone Priya? I’m trying to reach you since last hour.’ Sriram said annoyingly.


‘I think it’s switched off. Why are you trying to reach me?’


‘Come home fast. A big problem and I couldn’t reach you or dad.’


‘ what happened ?’


‘We have been served with a legal notice which says the side portion of the house is occupying the road and they have instruction from corporation to demolish this portion.’


‘What??’ Priya took a deep breath and wondered why all the troubles are coming together for the family.


She called the lawyer before starting home and he was at her house before she reached.


‘I will get a stay order and respond to the notice. I was involved when your husband purchased the neighboring house and I’m sure road is not encroached.’ Lawyer said.


‘Thanks. I’m quite scared actually. We moved in just a month back..’ Priya said in a scared voice.


‘I know that, Mrs.Jaishankar. Don’t worry about this. I will get to the bottom of this and update you.’ He told soothingly.


Once he left Sriram asked Priya ‘I wasn’t able to reach dad. Did you tell him?’


‘No. I didn’t reach to him. Might not talk to him today.’ Priya rushed to her room. ‘I had enough for the day.’ She muttered.


Later that day her phone rang to convey some more bad news!
