I see. There are still pending tests, but from the results we already have, we know that my DD's issues are genetic, unfortunately.

    Thanks for your response!

I got lucky with her latest SLP. She is also a BCBA certified in Early Start Denver model and has published 2 books. She started a couple of months ago and is following the ESDM curriculum.

Her BCBA (ABA service provider) is going to use verbal behavior approach. She is still doing the assessment. She said she will implement it play based, but have to wait and see how it turns out.

We do the bubbles and turn taking games too. She has developed good eye contact and name response through these. Working on three point gaze.

Her medical team has stressed on fine motor skills since they are so limited. She just bangs and throws everything while running, most of the day. If she learns to place objects purposefully, she might be more inclined to play appropriately is what we were thinking. She actually has a referral for 3 hours of OT, but only gets 1 hour with early intervention. So I am trying to do the rest of the 2 hours. Her motor planning issues are so obvious :(

We started music therapy few months ago and it has been so helpful. Her music therapist, in her first session, made DD sit for 30 minutes without DD even noticing it. It made my jaw drop. The table time is actually pretty fun for her. She loves music and sounds so all the books I read now are paired with a song. So trying to sneak in the pointing.

    Thanks for your input.

6/11 & 6/12 - DD was not feeling great. letting her rest.

She had her ears pierced a week ago. She was throwing a fit for the first few days when we tried to clean her ears with the solution given for that purpose. One of her therapists gave us this idea and it is working so far. Don't know why I didn't think of something so simple.
Wrap her in a blanket and with face close to her, sing a very favorite song to her, while another person quickly cleans the ear. After done, swing in the blanket (she loves swinging)

Yesterday, we had guests and went to the park and DD had a lot of fun. Nice to see her laugh so much.

Brushing teeth is a battle. For months, DD would not open her mouth at all. I was told to pair brushing with a short song so that she knows it's going to end soon and try to brush multiple times per day consistently. I try to do it four times a day with a normal, electric and finger toothbrush. The song part did not work but at least she opens her mouth now, grabs the brush and chews on it while shaking her head. Hopefully she will learn the correct way before her teeth rot and fall off.

For the longest time, DD didn't show any interest in books. "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see" was the first book that she liked.

The colors are attractive to her and it helps that there is a only one image in the page. I was also told that books like this that have single images are good for teaching pointing in an errorless fashion.

I have laminated pictures of the animals in the book and I use them in different ways (teach take/put/give, colors, matching, etc) Since she likes these images, she responds better to them than other toys or objects.

    It's a cool book!
I heard about biomed, but I don't feel like I am up for looking into it seriously right now. Was it helpful for your child?
