Hmm. I am just staring at the PC monitor. Where have all the words disappeared?
I heard this first some 55 years back. Whose quote is this?

    @Iravati
Why Tristram? Has it any significance? I mean why not Monostram or Quadrostram?

    My dear Anna
Nice post. When I read about dreams l just came across this which I had collected during my school days must be in 1958 I think

I slept and dreamt that life was beauty
I woke and found life was duty
Was then my dream s shadowy lie
    Toil on poor heart ,unceasingly
And thou shall find your dream
To be a truth and noon day light to thee
I wanted my son to do CA and glad He passed CA after 5 attempts. Those days it was difficut to pass CA. Then on his 3rd year training he joined our Company as a trainee and learnt ERP , now he is a Director in a Company which he and his friend our running financed by another person. ERP and CA is helping him and he gets many projects outside India and he gets opportunity to go abroad. AT present he is working from home and going on tour , so he is busy the whole day

Olden times rhymes were all nice. Now a days children are addicted to mobiles. Ihave seen mothers giving their mobile to play games when in a clinic. My brother in law's grand son will be a year this month and when he goes out of Bombay he will talk to him through mobile . The child cant talk but can see his grandfather from home.

Why children in that case earlier I was addicted to computer and of late to mobile. I use the computer less, use it only when I have to type long post. I had Huawei mobile and recently my son has bought me MOTO C mobile. In the old mobile I have put my daughter's sim card which she uses when she comes to India. So I am using both the mobiles.
JUst wanted to share this quote which gives me inspiration to try more and more and reach the top

If you cant be a highway then just be a rail
If you cant be a sun be a star
It isnt by size that you win or fail
be the best of whatever you are

If you cant be apine on the top of the hill
be a scrubin the valley but be
the best little scrub at the side of the hill
be a bush if you cant be a tree

We cant all be captains , we have got to be crew'
there is something for all of us here
There is big work to do and there is lesser to do
And the task we must do is the near

    @iyerviji
In good times when the ship sails through smooth waters, every one can have as much fun as the captain but when the ship sails through stormy waters, even the captain has to work like a crew. That is the spirit of team work.
Thank you viji for peeping into my rambling!

The word "Rambling" in the header is justified . From sound of music song to Abdul Kalam to nursery rhyme to wifi , nice rambling ! Its like how we sit on thinnai and chat for timepass , when we visit native place .

    First about dreams .
Night Dreams come on their own , we cannot direct them . So Sri Abdul Kalam must have instructed about Day Dreaming only . This we can direct . We can send thoughts to future scenes we want to be in . Day dreaming is not always destructive. Psychologists say " Visualisation " is first step to achievement .

" Mother's dreams for children" is mostly for sampradayam , mothers are just happy if her children turn out healthy and able to earn their food with honest job.
My mother wanted me to be homemaker ( because my school report cards were tragic ) I became homemaker . She was happy . I am also happy . No stories here .

    Second about Rhymes
Nursery Rhymes have some horrid origins itseems :

The Dark Origins of 11 Classic Nursery Rhymes

But our "Nila Nila Odi vaa" and "Dosai amma dosai" are all simple sweet fun . I hope, some modern time writers should not go and do research on these and announce they all have some wicked Origin legend .
The Nila songs and Dosai songs are all still enjoyed even by today's Wifi Kids , since they are all digitised now . with animations too . Only , mother is not singing , some sweet voice is singing in good tune . Better for kids .

    Third about Wifi addiction
I dont agree that only younger generation is addicted to mobile screens and wifi . When traveling in train , if we notice around , 85 % will be looking down like shy brides . Eyes stuck to the phone or tab or ipad or laptop in hand . And more than half of them are older generation people only , 40 to 70 maybe ,not kids and teens.

The first thing people ask when booking hotel rooms during travel is if there is complimentary breakfast. Second thing is if there is complimentary Wifi .

Everything new seems "undigestable " when most of our life is spent in one way of living . Even the hand dial phone , which the Seniors today feel nostalgic , was thought to be a useless , evil invention to people of more previous generation .
We cannot go back to bullock carts and oil lamps .

It is Worth remembering this Whatsapp share : " Today will be 'The Good Old Days' in 2025 . Enjoy it ! "

Not forgetting to add ; Enjoyed reading . Thanks to Wifi .

It is always gratifying to hear that my header is justified at least partly. My Guru in writing snippets once told me that the most difficult part of writing was to be able to select a justifiable 'header'. Of the two words, Senile and Rambling, the former has been conferred on me by virtue of my age but the latter is a one conferred on me during my early stages of blogging in another site. 'What is this guy rambling about all the time?' asked a reader of my early blogs and that got stuck with me!
Honestly it was Kalam who gave Day Dreaming a honourable place in the development of human intellect. Before him, Day Dreaming had a negative meaning. In my younger days, the villains in Tamil movies used to tell the hero not to 'day dream' of recovering the kingdom from them. When in the class room, when we fell asleep with eyes wide open, the teacher would wake us up by throwing the duster on us shouting 'Don't day dream' here'! Another word that signified 'day-dreamers' was 'Beaten Tamarind". I don't hear these words anymore even in rural areas!
You are very right. I have not come across any negative sentiment in our rhymes. The Dosai rhyme teaches the child the value of equitable distribution and the Nilaa rhyme sows the seed for a romantic mind!
2025? It shows how fast things are getting outdated! In eight years from now, the present life style will be as antic as stone age! In the mid fifties, nothing was happening at all and it was in the late 90's, things started galloping.
Thank you! I also enjoyed writing it!
