Usually, the public school a child attends is decided based on the address the family is living at. If schools have spots open in a particular grade, parents might be able to apply for inter-district or intra-district transfer. The process usually starts in the spring of a school year. If approved, child transfers to another school in the fall.

Moving a child to another school within the same school year without parents moving to a different address is often not possible, and not encouraged. Even if they move to a different address, if it is near enough, it is often suggested that child complete the school year in the old school.

You can try checking your school district's website for information on transfer process.

    What is school of choice?
    How it works?
Do we have to apply for school of choice for every academic year? Eg 1st grade we got the school of choice, so next year is that same school valid or again do we need to apply for it?

What is the probability to get the school of choice,?
The school I'm looking is an blue ribbon, state awarded school 10/10 on great schools.

There are so many problems concerning education and other stuff. I've been learning English with my kid with English courses abroad program and then we decided to find a school. I know how hard is to get prepared for school in this age..

    Bookmarked. Thank you so much!!!

We had similar experience. My kids worked on IXL a bit but stopped. Still with Beestar by now. Do you join any groupbuy for discount price?

In summer we read "What your xth graders need to know", it is a good starting point to prepare for a new term.

    Info page: Beestar groupbuy

Basically if 20+ students form a group to register the Fall term programs, you get 20% discount. 10+ students get 10% discount

    Hi,
My daughter is 2.5 years old and we are looking for daycare in our vacinity (cedar rapids,Iowa).
I was wondering what percentage of indians send their kids to day care? We are exploring different daycare options but haven't seen any indian kids in daycare! Looking for insight. Thanks!

Vedhavalli, sorry just seeing this message. Are you still looking for information?

Admission to school is valid as long as child and guardian are living in the school's map area. Usually elementary schools do not ask for proof of address every year. Getting into school of choice depends. If it is an impacted (over-enrolled) school, they might have a lottery system or other ways of selecting.
