Do Sahm's Have More Time To Research U.s. Education?

It is Friday from where this question is being posted. : )

The recent spurt of activity in U.S. school education related threads shows that parents have to put in quite some effort, strategy, and time into researching education choices, decisions, options, opportunities, accelerations.

Such research takes time. Do SAHM's have more dispensable time to devote to such research? What are the pro's and con's of having such dispensable time?

What can working moms do to conduct such education, schooling related research more efficiently? Other than paying SAHM's to do it for them. : )

To reiterate: it is Friday. : )

But question stands - school education in the U.S., supplementing it, and parenting the child from preschool to the day he/she is dropped off at the dorm, involves quite some education related "research" and research takes time. Do SAHM's have more time for such research?

Yes. It often needs one parent to be a stay-at-home parent or with a very relaxed job for such researching to get done. As I read in another thread (by now all threads are beginning to look the same, I have to seek out the title to know where I am posting : ) ), as described in that thread: "Parents are the only ones who have the time and inclination to mold a kid while the rest of the world only takes a passing interest "

No offense to anybody about the choices made by individuals either working full time or as SHAM.

I do agree that SAHMs have the bandwidth and time to do extensive research. As kids grow and go to higher grades, the amount of information that we as parents need to gather, research also increases proportionally. And that demands lots of dedication and time.

Also SHAMS have more time to build network and volunteer which gives them more access to information and options.

Hmm...depends
Sometimes half the time is spent figuring out where to look ...a working mom has yet another network she can make use of- driven parents at work who can empathize with u. The lack of dispensable hours in a day is a real problem...but u eventually learn to work around it.

Ur post made me go . I have been that working mom....and some of my friends have indulged me /spoilt me over the years . They have picked up an extra display board /stencils dropped it off before I even got home. But its a small group....and a long journey.. we get each others back .
Times when their better halves drag their feet about getting internships at their work places..we use our networks to get their kids placed.
It all works out in the end.

"time", one can have as much dispensable time in the world but fritter it away (even if one tends to justify it to oneself). Bottomline - whether sahm or wm, if time mgmt and priorities are right, then one can "make time" to do good research on education for kids, or other things. We always make time for something or other - what it is, depends on priorities we have , consciously or not.

There is obviously more "free time" for sahm (seemingly), but what is seeming may not be absolute truth
