    In all my pregnancies, none of my doctors gave an advice in regards to this, I don't know if I was suppose to initiate the question.. it would have been really helpful since both sides of my family insisted i should eat alot for baby's health hence my 60-70 lb weight gain each time.

    @justanothergirl
    JAG Thanks for this wonderful thread.
    The one thing I take away from this thread is an answer to my dinner.

    The past two days, I have begun having salad for my dinner also. I used to have salad from our cafeteria for lunch but dinner was tricky.

    One major hurdle was my mindset that I have to make salad myself to suit my taste. That was not working.
    One of your posts was the "Aha" enlightenment. Costco salad!!!

    That was the solution. I told myself, "begin eating salad at dinner and make it a habit first. Convenient access to salad will be the motivator. Once salad at dinner becomes the norm, you will find ways to enhance it, eventually doing them yourself". Similar to what I say in my time management thread!:facepalm:

    So for sometime it is Costco salad. Salad fills me up and to get that ethnic feeling I take half teaspoonful of pickle at the end. Only then the meal feel complete :)

    I got kefir from trader joes both plain and the ones with fruit ( tried mango and strawberry)...I like it .. I like sour yogurt so its perfect for me but kids arent too excited. I know I wont do it if its just for me at home. How long did it take for ur kids (I know they are much younger ) to accept kefir ? Any specific brand that u recommend ?

    You're right. Store-bought kefir is tart. I always bought the Trader Joe's brand. If your family doesn't like the TJ's version, you might try making it at home. I was surprised by how different home-made kefir tastes. It is only mildly sour, and has a slight sweetness too. You can make it sour by leaving the kefir for an extra day. When you start making kefir the first few batches are not good. The kefir tastes thin and milky. The culture reaches full strength after 4-5 batches. My husband never took to store-bought kefir but he loves the home-made version. Your boys might too.

    Baked my first white boule! Turned out pretty decent for a first attempt. The crust was gloriously crispy and the crumb came out light and hole-y, if a smidgen underdone for my taste. I blame that on my oven which is about 30 degrees cooler than the displayed temperature, something I discovered late in the baking process. Baked two loaves and the first one was gone within minutes! : ) So much for hoping we could make it through the week without having to buy any bread. Next on the agenda is a whole wheat boule.

    I put in some comments in a tab.
    I didn't see a process step where you had flattened the first rise, rolled it back up to the boule shape, and let it re-rise again, before baking. Try that. That process makes the hole-size distribution more uniform. Many youtube videos would also teach that.
    And slits. A boule could take some slits. you can use a razor blade, a scalpel (home depot, or Michaels Crafts woodworking art area) would work nicely.
    The bread looks nice. What were your oven conditions..?
