Asking whether your son / daughter bought a house and if so how much did it cost. Then respond to it with their son/daughter bought a house 3 times that and hires a maid to clean. Sometimes comes oh your daughter doesn't work. Why is that? My daughter is a Lead in such and such company. Never mind the fact that daughter's choice is to be a housewife.
In indian weddings, women on the girl's side who'd all qualify for the "aunti ji" label, shushhing one another, with a "wait..wait.. till after the mangalyadaranam (muhurat)..", said in a hissing voice. One time, innocenti me, I had asked,"..what's going to happin?", and got my elbow pinched with a "shushhh" hissed into my ear. I decided to move away. We area a mysterious people.

My very Indian neighbour took mustard seeds then came for a sprig or two of curry leaves cos loose curry leaves dont go for fish curry(really?), ginger and after a while for some oil to fry.. I was confused by the order of things borrowed.. Just saying!!
