Chapter-21

Several heads turned in the airport when Jai shouted ‘What do you mean?’ His face was red with anger.

Chairman who was near by calmed him ‘Jaishankar.. you are in airport. Who is Priya , Srikanth?’ he asked

‘She is one of our employee, we live in the same gated community. I wanted to talk to you about her..’ Jai replied.

‘Srikanth, drive to my house. I think your dad was eating something important.’ Chairman said
‘Jaishankar.. Why did you complicate like this?’ was the first sentence chairman asked once Jai explained the incidents.

Srikanth then talked about the discussion with Priya and conveyed that she had plans to move to Bangalore if things don’t work out. Now her mobile is not reachable and she & Vivaan are not seen in house for more than two weeks.

‘I thought you both talked dad and everything worked out. I went to trip with my friends and didn’t follow up with Priya. We just thought she lost the mobile.’ Srikanth told looking at Jai.

Jai narrated what happened when they talked ’Before I could reply I had to fly to Africa. I passed on the note to Sriram. You guys should have told me about what you discussed with her. I’m seriously let down….’

‘Calm down Jai…Before we talk further, Srikanth do you know whether she placed her papers with Evolution?’

‘She didn’t ….at least to my knowledge.’

Chairman immediately rang HR Head.

‘Hello..Yes Greetings. There’s an employee called Priya Ganesan in our Chennai office… I need to know whether she’s in long leave or mentioned any change in residence address… Very urgent..Call me back once.’

Chairman looked at Srikanth and asked, ‘Can you please ask my wife whether I will be served coffee?’

Once Srikanth was out of ear shot he said, ‘Jai you could have easily avoided all these. She is working in your unit, living close to your house and above all you liked her I really don’t know what stopped you from taking steps towards her. Also coming to Mithun spying on you, why wasn’t this communicated to me? We should have taken action against him’

‘Mithun spying on me is my personal problem. His action was against me not against Evolution.’ Jai shot back.

‘It’s quite easy to say it was difficult in reality. I didn’t know whether she was ready for marriage. She was so much in love with her expired husband. I didn’t know how to talk to her…Also there were lot of things to consider.. We have a big age difference, I’m bit old to be Vivaan’s father and similarly she was young to be my boys mother.. ’Jai added.

‘Says someone who talks to media on the go… Did all the problems disappear when she proposed you?’ Chairman continued as Jai remained silent..’ You waited for things to happen Jai. This is not the Jai I knew. You were always aggressive in what you wanted.’

‘Jai…’

‘Yes….’

‘She took a huge step for you. What worst would have happened if you caught the next flight? What was stopping you? She deserves better treatment than this Jai.’

Jai looked at the ceiling while chairman continued.

I don’t think you would have got more matured boys than yours. Believe me it’s not easy for them to talk to you about Priya and her feelings. Blaming them is…’

‘I know I overreacted on them..’

‘And you were non reactive for Priya…’

‘Correct…’

HR head called back the chairman to inform Priya Ganesan was relieved 20 days back.

Housekeeper entered the room with coffee tray. Srikanth and Chairman’s wife followed them.

‘Jai..It seems Priya was relieved 20 days back. Seems she pressurized the HR for waiving off her noticed period, paid for the same and got relived.’

Jai appeared much tensed. He didn’t expect such turn of events. He realized he should have handled things better.

‘Can I smoke here?’ he asked.

‘No…Go to the garden if you want.’ Chairman replied

‘Once I’m back I need all your help in finding and winning Priya.’ Jai declared.

‘That’s my boy. Anything for you, Jai.’ Said Chairman.

Jai looked at Srikanth on the way and said ‘Sorry. I don’t know what got into me...’

‘I understand dad. Let’s find them fast.’
