    For those who live in Chicagoland, there is oldtownoil, olivetap stores. They also have online services. They sell good balsamic vinegar, and a variety of olive oils. I am not recommending these. There are plenty of such named stores in a variety of malls in canada and usa.

    Although bread is not exactly a low-glycemic index food for weight watchers, one or two small slices, with a couple of nice dipping oils, or vinegars , or homemade fusion versions of such things is good. Drink a glass of water for every slice of baguette. Home made dipping oils can be made by mixing store-bought indian pickles (mango-thȏkku, and gonkura pickles are my favorites for this) with EVOO. Imagine a rectangular white ceramic serving dish with a few dimples, each with a different coloured oil, with a sharp sediment in it. You are serving two or three very thin slices of baguette with it. And some aperitif.:tonguewink:

    Not sure if this is the right thread. How do celebrity moms like Ivanka Trump etc. lost weight so soon after childbirth? Even Kareena Kapoor didn't look so bad in a recent ramp walk (2 months after her son's birth).

    Ivanka's third child will turn 1 in March. At one point last year, she had 3 kids under 5 yrs old. Agreed money can buy many things, but, still, how do they lose weight so fast.

    Few years ago, I came across a model's blog who has 5 children and her advise was that one should not gain more than 23 lbs during pregnancy. I don't know if this is some sort of industry secret because you can't even find this reference in Google, can't remember that old blog too.

    FYI....
    http://www.organichealthcorner.com/14-fake-olive-oil-companies-revealed-now-avoid-brands/
    Whole foods brand didnt make it...yikes!
    On the bright side Costco did !:banana:
    Also both salt and sugar.. I have seen that if I consciously stop adding them the moment I feel that the dish needs just a bit more..after a while taste buds seem to accept it as right.
    I have been doing this at home for while now..but the down side is all of us find most restaurant foods(or anywhere for that matter very salty/sweet and have a hard time enjoying.)
    oh well..!
    Quick question..what do I do to keep the culture alive if I want to take a break from making kefir..couple of days/a week max...can it be refrigerated like yogurt?

    Genes I am sure play a huge role..+ how carefully they monitor their weight gain during pregnancy itself.

    I was overweight when I got pregnant with my daughter. My doc told me not to gain more than 20lbs. I gained 18lbs baby and all. She was a 7.5lbs baby! I think the general advice is 30lbs for normal weight women, <20 for overweight, and <15 for obese.

    @Rihana
    I dunno what models/actresses do but personal trainers, personal chefs, and an army of nannies would make it easy for anyone. I assume a vast majority of them don't bother with breastfeeding. I once saw a show about Heidi Klum and how she got into shape 2 months after childbirth. I vaguely remember some talk of how she snacked on boiled eggs all day and worked out 90 minutes daily. Personally I can't remember if between the nursing and pumping and nursing again I managed to shower during the first 2 months!

    I remember reading a story a while back about how the Italian olive oil industry is now controlled by the mafia and the oil is heavily adulterated. Apparently it is quite hard to find 100% olive oil sourced from Italy. They said if you want a pure olive oil product buy California olive oil. It has been Napa olive oil for us since then.

    I took a 7 day vacation late last year. I put my kefir grains in a jar and topped with fresh milk. Put in the back of the refrigerator and didn't reuse for approximately 10 days. The kefir grains did well. I would say a week long break would be just fine. Of course if you do it too often it will cause the grains to deteriorate over time. You have to store the culture with milk else the bacteria starve without the sweet sweet lactose. :D
