Those were the days... before going out, I sometimes needed help with the bottom of pleats of cotton saree : ) And got the help. : ) I use only two pins. A big one for the pleats and a small one on the left shoulder. When my co-sister sees me in a saree, she will unceremoniously pull me into a room, and redo it. I just stand there like a cooperative mannequin and she does the magic. I don't know how... putting on a saree on someone else is harder than on oneself : ) A neighbor helps my DD : ) I keep telling the neighbor not to dare move till DD gets married. LOL. : )
@Rihana, I'm that co-sister and neighbor. Although my DD is not a fan of indian dress, when she wear saree, she wear it with lot of confidence. Don't worry about your neighbor moving. "Main Hoon Na"
Never head of these two pinnings.....hold the saree and blouse together at left hip??how ?blouse and saree at hip????How long is the blouse? I rarely sweat in my under arms....almost like I have no sweat glands .Just sweat around the neck a bit and upper lips.
My daughters wear it better and can walk round in it much better than me .Hubby is an expert in pleating and pinning ...he did it for his mom .
Thanks SGBV for the pinning image. I'm 5'7. my blouse is 15 inches long. For the other pinning, Watch this video from 3.20 onwards. She is using 2 pins to bring the shape, I use only one.
Nice video @JustAnotherMom. Saving it for daughters. Any tips on how to wear cotton sarees elegantly with out it fluffing up and makng me look like a hen.I am 5'2 only and curvy
JAM, co-incidently, this is the exact video that I used to watch a couple of months back when I was required to wear saree to the office for the meetings. This is quite helpful, and simple. Earlier I only wore saree for the festivals and functions with loads of help from others. YM, I usually iron the saree's pleats both the pallu and the middle one by neatly pinning them before I wear the saree. So, it is very easy to keep the cotton saree in place without any major mess. While wearing the saree, I remove the extra pins, yet the ironed pleats would stay neatly.
@SGBV...I tried the ironing the pleats and pinning up once .I got too tired . I now prefer to wear chiffon sarees for summers.
