CB, the ladiesfinger fry is made in normal amount of oil. Never have excess oil for anything. OK, maybe marginally more than what I use for other vegetables.

Today's curd rice was regular rice.

@Shanvy, thanks so much. You never cease to amaze me with the elaborate poojas you do and your plates on festival days. I loved the bit about "i had this funny feeling as if the others were questioning me..so all of them joined my ambal for the pooja". :-D

    Thanks Shodin. :)

Sure @shanvy next time i'll try ragi idli with whole grain but want to know the proportion when used whole grain.
I got many doubts regarding other millet. Want to know which millet generate heat and cold. Other than ragi and wheat I use cholam. Cholam only for dosa but whenever consumed I get lower abdominal pain the next day. reason what?
    Please clear my doubt.

Yesterday dinner was Roti and Paneer Butter Masala. Made paneer at home and Used up all the whey for kneading the dough and the gravy. Still thinking what to make for tonight's dinner.

@satchitananda wonderful menu. lovely kadhi and sabji..

@shodin i don't eat puttu much. macaroni is my kiddo's fav. must do it.. have some whole wheat spaghetti box there..and you can try with small plants. i am sure many have plants at home. get small plants and try planting. start with mint..you can get them..i know it is hot and hard, but yes a little effort and a green garden. many of my friends in muscat have gardens. jasmines, curry leaves, drumsticks, mangoes and more.

@damini my dinner was rava idli.

@sumanrathi did you get the spondy idlis' do post your new trial.

@gayathri will gve you the correct proportion in a day or two..mine is eye ball. kann thittam.

@chillbreeze this post is for you..

This is the hair oil i made for my daughter 2 years back. it still is fresh and retains all the herbal nature of it. has vettivaer, curry leaves, ponnaganni leaves, neem leaves, henna leaves, avaram poo, methi and karisalanganni leaves. all crushed and boiled..it is used as a hair massage oil instead of regular use, because it smells of herbs and her classmates get headache. regular use is just coconut oil..
    IMG_20150325_102423.jpg

and this is the hairwash that i make. contains most of the things that i can get in powder form. though i buy reetha and some others as whole. crush and pound in my old reliable mixer..sieve and make it fine...the only drawback is you need lot of water to wash your hair. but hair is real soft and clean inspite of the oil without the use of any shampoo.
thippili and kadukkai will ensure no infection is there on the scalp.

    hibiscus flower-available as powder
    avaram poo - powder available.
    roja poo - powder available
vempam poo - available as dry flowers
tulasi leaves - available as powder or you can make your own
shikakai - available as powder or you can dry, crush and run it in mixie or mill
reetha - powder available but costly. i buy whole and deseed and run it in mixie after drying
poolan kizhangu - available as powder
vettivaer - available as roots..can crush in mixie
kadukaai -the three together form thripala..kadukaai,thippil,nellikai.
thippili can get individual or together
    nellikai
karivepillai - get powder or make your own
    karisalanganni - get powder
    vendayam - get powder.
