Yes - I too think Madhumita's another contestant who's been pushed up...perhaps they're putting off her elimination so as to ensure a better mix of boys and girls. But then, Deepti and Niranjana are better singers, right?
But this seems a little less outrageous compared to Syed's promotion Madhumita has sung a few tough songs, but Syed has sung practically none! It's going to be a rehash of SS Junior, when Aajidh won the title after singing vande mataram ;-)

 

Syed sang (or talked) "Vikram" in yesterday's Kamal Hassan dedication episode. Of the lot, only Unnikrishnan gave fair comments that he could have chosen something a little more musical. All the other judges we going crazy about his performance, as always!

Also, Madhumitha sang Who's the hero and Sharath sang "oh oh sanam...". Of all the Kamal songs, I did not understand why nobody chose some proper melody. Parvati sang
Inji iduppu azhaga and that was about the only song that was close to a melody.

 

All the way to the finals, I suppose!

In fact, if Diwakar had been from a slightly affluent family, then we could safely say Syed would have been backed up all the way to the title ;-)

 

I hope there is no SS Junior which is immediately foll this season. They need to give it a break . Its the same set of judges with the same concepts which is quite boring by now. Maybe they shouls refrain from producing this show for 1 year and then come back with NEW SET OF JUDGES atleast!

 

Lol... I think these judges are available to Vijay TV on a discounted rate... they wouldnt change them unless they get some other high profile artist.

 

That's true The judges are, by large, kind of ex-playback singers, right? - not too busy these days perhaps ;-) In fact, I don't know if Shubha's ever been a prolific playback singer. And excepting Chitra and Sujatha, I don't know if the others would be able to sing across the wide range of genres they're expecting the (eliminated) contestants to sing!

Unni is a extemplary carnatic singer, but I suspect cannot sing the "rockstar" songs (in their words ;-)) Shubha only sings those husky number's she's always done; Srinivas, as peartree had already pointed out, has pretty much the same limitations as Unni, though I'd say he's not the strong Carnatic singer that Unni is. Mano's a melody singer - can he do heavy carnatic numbers?

 

And Syed sung "rajavukku raja naanda"? I didn't catch the entire episode, but did the judges say something about Syed blasting through the "long lines" in this song? Which line were long in the song - it seems a normal fast number. Is it that difficult to sing (that a contestant choses it for the top 7 round?):idontgetit:

 

So, this week's top performer Aravind Srinivas will be eliminated next week? and the one who was in the danger zone today will get thru. hmmm! Dhivakar's fb msg says he is in the finals.. he didn't reveal the names of others though ! any guesses people?

 

I didn't watch many of the episodes this week...so Arvind is the top performer? Probably because there were external judges too ;-).

I'm guessing this is what would happen next week: Arvind will give a lacklusture performance (at least according to the judges); and perhaps he and Parvati/Sonia would be in the danger zone. Then they'll have an elimination show-down; and of course Arvind will have to go, because the other two are pretty strong performers!

Syed would be in the safe zone next week, and would automatically go into the top 5.
So they've selected the finalists, too? Sonia, Parvati and Diwakar, then? Or is it a top 4 that includes Syed? I hope not!
