    Hi,
My best friend is in a kind of fix. She was supposed to get her periods on the 11 of this month and missed it. Has take a home pregnancy test using Velocit and Pregcolor cards(Indian brands) some 7 times and ended up having faint pinklines in the Test region.
She is having all her other symptoms of pregnancy but is unsure whether she has to do her Elisa screening or blood test before her 45 th day. She is as old as me that is 24 and I dont have any knowledge about this either. This is just her 36 th day..Pls cud some one help on this

    Hi Niveditha

Let me tell you...Now, I am pregnant with 24 weeks. I will share my experience with you. My periods are not that regular. I would expect my periods between 28-35 (once or twice it so happened that it got delayed by 45 days). Does your friend has a perfect cycle?

Secondly, I had done a pregnancy test when I didn't get my periods for about 40 days. I don't remember the brand name but the instructions given in that was easy and clear to follow. It mentioned that the test is negetive when one pink line apears, the test is positive when 2 pink line appears. To my surprise I got 2 very light pink lines for which it had stated that its positive but the colour might differ due to the level of harmones. So, may be your friend has not read the instructions clearly before going for the test. In anyways, I would suggest that let her wait for 3-4 days more and then go for the test. If its still negetive, then she must meet her family doctor.

This website is very useful. Pls go thro this: babycenter.com

    Regards

    Lakshmi

As a mother of two kids, let me suggest you to wait until 40 days atleast and go to PCP or gyn., If they take the blood test, you will come to know for sure. The docs normally says that it is better to wait until 40 to 45 days becoz, sometimes, the blood test before those periods if you take might go wrong. Better wait and see.

Best of luck to yr friend..

    agree regarding gyneac test

I agree with Ami on this.I did all that your friend did,Niveditha,I did a test on the 35 day and it turned positive. Then I went to the gyneac on the 36 day.She took a urine sample and asked me to come after a month to confirm whether I was pregnant!

So it is better to wait for some more time.

    Cheers

    Sex during pregnancy

    Ladies,

One delicate question that I can't ask a whole lot of other people. How did you all handle the aspect of sex during pregnancy? My doctor keeps telling me (when my husband is there) that sex during pregnancy doesn't hurt the baby in any way. In spite of that, I am nervous. Should I just abstain from sex during this pregnancy period? Is it a fair thing to do to my husband? 9 months looks like a long period. Any advice/anecdotes on how you all handled it? Thanks for your thoughts.

    To add to this discussion...

I have heard from one of the OB say that if you have the following signs better to avoid sex during pregnancy:

    1. If the placenta is straight to cervix, they expect it to move. To aid the movement one of the things advised is not to have sex.

    2. If there is spotting from the vagina, it is advised not to have sex for it may increase the bleeding.
