your q on curry leaf plant

you have not mentioned whether u grow it from seeds or u get saplings. first immerse seeds in cold water for a day then fill pot with manure and soil. keep in shade with minimum watering.. maybe u have to try it only when it rains not too summer, winter or autumn. do u have vermicompost there? This plant takes time and grows in sunny places. i seem to have enough plants to pull away like weeds . wish i could send u some
    bye

    curryleaf plants

    Dear Tulsi,

Do not take saplings from underneath the main plant. Those new plants are from the roots . Take seeds and plant them.
    OR,
if you have small ones all over the place from where you got your sapling, see if the individual roots are there in any of them, only then it'll grow. The stem root should have formed properly.

    curry leaf plant

    Dear Tulsi,

Sometimes I have seen the leaves fall off in a new plant and grow again.
Wait a little more before you replant a new one.

    Hi

I too love to plant indoor vegges.I have pudina, spring onions and garlic .If you get pudina ,take the stalks and plant them .Pudina is like grass. If one stalk starts shooting then your whole pot will be full with pudina. As you told you don’t find pudina, then you have to try with the seedlings. Curry leaves also need seedlings. Tulasi , methi leaves and coriander leaves can be grown using seeds .All the above mentioned plants are grown in shade,if planted outdoors.

    bye.

    seedlings

    Dear Heena,

Curry leaf plant , you have to plant as a small one, a seedling. Mostly it grows from the roots and when tried for transplant doesn't come properly. It has to come from a seed.
Tulsi is also from seeds and you can get lots of small ones from underneath the mother plant itself.
Methi , you can sow the methi you have with you at home for cooking. It'll sprout within two three days it is said but I have not done it yet.
Coriander- If it is new coriander seeds you have at home, just take some out and crush them with your hands. Plant it now in a pot. If you have had the seeds for a long time then it would not grow. It should be the new .
Pudina- As priyanka told you , yu can plant the stalks after taking the leaves out. You can keep it in the kitchen window and see the growth for yourself. You'll have enough of it at home, that you need not buy it at all.

    Dear Heena,

As others have said, for curry leaf you need to get a young seedling. See if your friends can give one to you (I got one from my friends this year) or you can even try to order one online. I am growing it indoors and I am happy that till now its growing well esp. with the very cold winters here in the eastcoast.

For pudina I think you might get some seeds..I have seen mint seeds in shops here.

For other plants, you can follow the guidlines of Latha and Priyanka.

    Take Care!
