    Hi all SG ILites,

Its December and its school holidays for the kids. I am sure many of you have already left SG for your holidays:), but a lot of us are still here and are starting to look for interesting places to explore and go around this holiday season. It would be great if we can share our expectations and experiences here as it would help us all get an good idea about places we want to visit and new places that we would like to explore.

So I will start off with a nice new place suggested to me by one of our dear ILite, Mathu, Punggol Waterways.... i looked it up on the net and the pics i found were real good. A nice place for an evening stroll and place for the kids to play and all. It is only about 5 - 10 mins walking distance from the MRT. I am planning to explore this weekend.... will update how it was and post pics after my visit:)

Do share your ideas and places you found interesting :)

    Dear Pooja,

Thank you for such an impressive list dear :)

Marina barage and botanical garden are places on my list to explore.

Another place I would suggest is Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. I have visited this once and have loved it. It is for people who love to explore nature and go on walking and biking trails surrounded by wonderful mother nature!! There are lots of small animals along with way (nothing scary, just small monkeys, a variety birds and insect).... great for an energizing stroll. We saw a long suspension bridge and were told that we had to take a different route to reach it, since we couldn't explore it then, I hope I will be able to do it the next time I visit :)

    Changi Boardwalk

    Hi all,

I was sooo excited about visiting and sharing my experience at the Punggol Waterways this weekend, but alas, due rain i could'nt go, but being too boared at home a friend and I decided to explore Changi Boardwalk.

It is a lovely place, very quiet and serene, perfect for a stroll in the evening, a dip in the water (if you like getting wet :)), playing in the sand..... a nice evening by the seaside. My kids and her son had loads of fun playing in the sand, and my husband and hers are friends, and they enjoyed catching up and clicking away the frolic the kids were having:)

We enjoyed the leisurely stroll and watching few fishermen fish. We saw them catch crabs with their nets and and bringing them ashore and giving them to a chinese gentleman (for whom they were fishing.... errr crabbing!!). Curiously, they were throwing away the fishes back into the water.... I wondered why they did not collect them as well, even if the man had ordered only crabs, why were they not collecting the fishes that had be caught in the net for themselves??:bonk
There were few cats along the shore, i think they were waiting for the fishermen to throw some fish or other seafood for them.

There was a Malay family that was having loads of fun playing in the water with the elders having yummy things by the shore set up in a lovely picnic fashion. Many youngsters had gathered at a barbecue pit and were having a great blast.

Lots of smiling faces, a pleasant breeze, comfortable company..... what more could i ask for!! it was a perfect evening. Thanks to my friend for having suggested the place :)

What to see what I saw ?? Check this cool virtual tour link that i found on net.

I am glad I visited, it sure was a nice place :)

    Hi Akila,

Nice to see that you have visited Changi Board Walk.
I am still thinking every weekend that we should meet for a weekend and take our kids to Punggol Waterway but it is yet to happen.
Hope all of you had nice vacation, new year and chinese new year.
For anyone who has not visited Botanical Gardens, it is a must visit place. It is absolutely beautiful and is so huge that you cannot even cover it in a single day.
I have visited it 2-3 times till now and each time I enjoy it even more!!
Marina Barrage is a good place to spend an evening with Kids in a laid back manner. The Kids love playing in the fountains there and we had a nice picnic with bajjis and pakodas which we had taken from home!
Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Bedok Reservoir are our next stops! Hope we make it there soon!!

    Hi Mathu,

I too do wish we could meet up and explore new places together. This vacation i did go to the McRitchi Nature Reserve and the suspension bridge there. It was a beautiful trail with a lovely rainforest all around. I will write about it later, but will share a few pics i clicked there for now.

    Hi Shanti,

So true... I too wish we had more to explore.

I recently visited the botanical garden for the first time. I think some of our ILites met there for Mom and Kids get-together. It is a very nice place as well. I enjoyed walking around and reading all the awesome details about so many plants. The scenery is lovely and there were a couple of wedding photo shoots going on, it was lovely to watch as well. The lawns are a luscious green and we enjoyed playing flying disk, ball, and ring ball :)
